Student Job in Social Entrepreneurship
About Synge Synge is a small consulting firm in Linköping with operations in international sourcing and business development. The company was founded in France in 2013 and relocated to Linköping in 2020. Synge operates as a social business, a business model that can be described as a combination of charity and traditional entrepreneurship. Like other companies, Synge needs to be profitable to operate independently and long-term. Unlike traditional companies, however, all profits are reinvested in projects with societal value. Over the years, this has primarily involved guesthouses, retreats, interdisciplinary work-aways, and book publishing. The next initiative is Agape Guesthouse, a vision for a new type of meeting place in central Linköping that combines coworking, afterwork, and event space. More information is available at www.synge.earth. About the Role The role is a combination of business apprentice, researcher, and junior consultant. The workload is normally around 10-30 hours per month but can vary over time. A large part of the work involves supporting Synge's own development by: • Identifying potential customers and collaboration partners • Mapping markets and business opportunities • Conducting research and analysis • Preparing presentations and decision-making materials • Contributing ideas for new projects and initiatives When client assignments are available, the work may also include international sourcing, business development, market analysis, and other consulting-related tasks. Beyond consulting work, you'll have the opportunity to follow and contribute to the development of Agape Guesthouse and other social entrepreneurship initiatives. The role is particularly well-suited for someone who is curious about how companies can be used to create not only economic value but also good workplaces, strong relationships, and meaningful communities. About You You are nearing the end of your university studies or have recently graduated. Prior work experience, association involvement, volunteer work, or personal projects are merits. The role requires that you communicate fluently in both Swedish and English. You either have a strong connection to Linköping or an ambition to build a long-term relationship with the city and its people. It is particularly interesting if you: • Are curious about social entrepreneurship and alternative ways to build operations • Enjoy analyzing, investigating, and understanding complex issues • Have a genuine interest in entrepreneurship, organizations, and human collaboration • Are comfortable in environments where ideas develop long-term rather than quickly • Value learning, relationships, and personal development equally as much as career and financial success The role is probably best suited for someone who sometimes thinks about bigger questions than just the next career step. What is work actually for? How do you build operations where people thrive and develop? Is it possible to combine economic sustainability with human and social sustainability? If such questions spark your curiosity, there's a good chance you'll thrive at Synge. Synge Offers • Flexible solutions regarding working hours, compensation, and collaboration format • Opportunity to participate in the development of a social enterprise and its projects • Practical experience in business development, entrepreneurship, and consulting • Great freedom to shape the role over time Application Send your CV and a cover letter to Jan Herstek, founder of Synge, at [email protected]. Do you want to work in a values-driven organization with flexible working hours, short decision-making processes, close collaboration among colleagues, and the opportunity to influence how we work and develop? Are you an experienced accountant who appreciates working close to the business and believes that accounting should create meaning and is just as much about people, relationships, and sound decisions as it is about numbers? Then this might be the right assignment for you. About the Position We are looking for someone who wants to help create structure, security, and overview in a small private business where accounting is seen as a tool for making sustainable decisions and creating good conditions for people to do their best work. WiseMind is a small psychology and training practice. We are now looking for an experienced accountant for a part-time position corresponding to approximately 20 percent, with the opportunity to help us shape the role based on the business's needs and your expertise. Maybe you are a tech-savvy accountant who has retired but still want to be active a few hours a week doing something that feels rewarding, developmental, and meaningful. Or perhaps you are in a completely different phase of life and looking for a part-time assignment where you can use your experience in a way that makes a real difference. We believe you appreciate the variety and closeness that exists in a small company, where you get to use both your experience, your judgment, and your creativity. Our nice office is located in central Gothenburg and it would be an advantage if we could meet you as a colleague in person with us, but personal suitability is more important than where you are located. Key Responsibilities Manage and develop simple and sustainable routines for invoicing, budgeting, forecasts, and follow-up Support management and staff in understanding and monitoring the business's finances Contribute to ensuring that financial planning and follow-up occur according to an annual cycle and at a level appropriate for a small organization Prepare and present financial reports that help the business make sound decisions Support the business in maintaining good principles and routines in HR matters Provide support in processes regarding salary setting and other personnel-related issues Identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and efficiency improvements in administrative processes Explore how AI and digital tools can be used to free up time from repetitive tasks, so that people have more room for relationships, quality, and business development. The role does not involve creating extensive detailed management or administration for its own sake. Rather, we are looking for someone who helps us find the right level – sufficient structure and follow-up for the business to function well, without creating unnecessary complexity. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for someone with several years of experience in accounting work and a good understanding of the conditions in private business, preferably in small or medium-sized companies. You are comfortable in both an operational and advisory role where you combine accounting expertise with an operational perspective. We would like to see that you: Have relevant education and solid experience in accounting Enjoy budgeting, forecasting, and financial follow-up Have knowledge of or interest in HR matters and salary processes Are curious about digitalization, automation, and AI Appreciate working in a small organization where tasks sometimes cross traditional responsibility areas Enjoy collaborating and building good relationships. Working With Us We at WiseMind believe that a job should be fun, secure, and developmental, as well as offer opportunities for variety, learning, and social community. Together, we want to create smart and socially beneficial services and work methods that make a real difference. By being part of a small company, you constantly develop new skills and find solutions together with your colleagues regardless of how long you have been in the workforce. The business strives to be self-governing and is inspired by principles from so-called Teal organizations. We work with shared responsibility, transparency, and shared leadership rather than traditional hierarchy. We encourage a culture characterized by warmth, engagement, trust, and initiative. For us, this means that everyone who works here feels responsibility for the whole and finds it easy to go from thought to action when it comes to improving and contributing – both in small and big ways. Learn more about the different parts of our business at: wisemind.se The Employment The position comprises approximately 20 percent, with the possibility of flexible working hours by agreement.
