We're facing major transformations to meet citizens' needs in the long term – do you want to be part of that journey?
Your new workplace
Do you enjoy creating good food that makes a difference in everyday life? We're looking for you to work as a temporary substitute cook and contribute your expertise in the kitchen when regular staff need support. As a temporary substitute cook at Sundsvall Municipality, you'll be an important part of a team that ensures our guests receive delicious and nutritious meals every day.
Sundsvall Food and Meals is responsible for public gastronomy in Sundsvall Municipality. Every day, approximately 15,000 meals are prepared throughout the municipality. For our operations, it's important to create good meals for our guests and work toward a more sustainable meals organization.
Sundsvall Food and Meals has a total of approximately 100 kitchens, including both larger production kitchens and smaller preparation kitchens. Production kitchens prepare meals for other units as well, while preparation kitchens prepare meals for their own unit. There are also kitchens that don't have their own food preparation but only simple preparation such as reheating.
How you'll contribute in the role of temporary substitute cook
In the kitchen, you'll work in a team with cooks, meal service staff, and a head cook who leads the work at the workplaces. As a cook, you're expected to participate in all work tasks in our kitchens and restaurants as we apply job rotation.
The kitchen is a central place at the unit. This means that respectful collaboration and cooperation with the rest of the organization is an important part of the work.
Food and Meals kitchens are located at one of the municipality's preschools, schools, or elderly care facilities. Working hours are daytime, Monday-Friday, with no weekend duties. Work shifts typically run from 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 or 3:30 p.m.
As a temporary substitute, you'll be booked directly through the TimeCare Pool booking system. By registering your availability in the system, you accept being booked for these times. You're responsible for entering and keeping your availability updated. You'll be booked both with short notice and further in advance based on your availability. When booked, you'll receive an SMS with working hours, date, and workplace.
Our recruitment process is digital and will be conducted through video interviews that you answer at your convenience. If needed or desired, telephone interviews are also offered.
Your skills and experience
To move forward in the selection process, you need to have cook training and good Swedish language skills in speaking, writing, and reading, as you'll need to collaborate with colleagues and read recipes.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and see that you as an applicant find it easy to work with meal guests, colleagues, and other staff. We'd like to see that you're driven, innovative, and meet our guests with warmth and professionalism. You have strong knowledge of and commitment to the meal experience.
It's advantageous if you've previously worked in restaurants or kitchens and have experience preparing special diets.
We consider high availability to be advantageous.
About the recruitment process
You apply by answering a few selection questions and attaching an updated CV with your education, employment, and time periods. If you have relevant education, please also attach grades/diploma certificates.
We recruit continuously based on current needs.
If you move forward in the process, you'll be contacted via email.
We use AI as support in the recruitment process. It doesn't replace human judgment but is used as a complement in our work.
