About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking additional staff. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and inmate transport. The Saltvik Operations Area includes the prisons of Saltvik, Härnösand, and Ljustadalen, as well as the Saltvik remand facility.
