About the Position On the inpatient pulmonary medicine ward, we care for patients requiring highly specialized pulmonary medical care. You will meet patients with conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, respiratory failure, pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, pleurisy, pneumonia, and empyema. We also evaluate and treat patients in preparation for lung transplantation and initiate treatment with ventilators and long-term oxygen therapy. With us, you will work with advanced treatment and examination methods and develop your expertise in medical technology nursing. You will learn, among other things, how to use and interpret blood gases, drainage treatment, non-invasive ventilation therapy (NIV), high-flow oxygen treatment (Optiflow), transcutaneous carbon dioxide measurement (TOSCA), and expanded sampling procedures for fluid accumulation in the lungs. As a nurse, you are responsible for patient care, medication management, and medical technical procedures. The ward has 18 beds, and you work in a team with a nursing assistant, supported by additional resources when needed. Each team is responsible for up to six patients. You work closely with physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, coordinators, and care coordinators to provide patients with safe and coordinated care. During your introduction, you will be supported by our nursing specialist who serves as a mentor. Even after the introduction period, the nursing specialist is available to support you in clinical work, complex care situations, and your continued professional development.
