Department of Special Education More information about us can be found at: Department of Special Education Subject/Subject Description At Stockholm University, Special Education is an interdisciplinary field of knowledge with a bridging function between several scientific areas, based on the interaction between individual, context, and society. Knowledge within the field focuses on interventions before difficulties arise as well as facilitating support for persons with various functional limitations and/or persons in socially disadvantaged life situations. Duties The position includes competence and research time according to applicable conditions of employment. The person hired as professor shall actively participate in developing leading special education research from a national and international perspective. Research, teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels in the subject, as well as leading administrative tasks within the department and faculty. Eligibility Requirements Eligible for appointment as professor is a person who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical competence. The applicant must have both the ability to collaborate and the ability and suitability otherwise needed to perform the duties well. To be able to perform the duties of the position, the applicant must have documented ability to use Swedish in speech and writing at a professional level. This is demonstrated, for example, through documented experience of teaching in Swedish or a certificate of language skills corresponding to at least B2 level (CEFR). Evaluation Criteria Particular and equal weight shall be placed on pedagogical and scientific competence. Scientific competence shall be demonstrated through independent research contributions in special education or a related area that significantly exceed what is required for associate professor competence, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Planning and leadership of research as well as experience with assignments as opponent or member of grading committees, expert or expert reviewer shall also be considered. Pedagogical competence is normally demonstrated through teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels as well as at the doctoral level. The assessment of pedagogical competence shall cover planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. The pedagogical competence shall be well documented in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the pedagogical activities. Great weight shall be placed on documented ability to collaborate with colleagues. Great weight shall be placed on successful doctoral supervision demonstrated through active supervision of at least one doctoral student through to approved dissertation. Great weight shall be placed on administrative competence as well as the ability to cooperate with the surrounding society and to communicate about research and development work. Great weight shall be placed on successfully planning, applying for, and obtaining funding for research projects from external funders. Great weight shall be placed on experience in skillfully leading and developing activities, personnel, and research projects as well as experience with assignments in, for example, committees and boards. Meritorious qualifications include the following: University pedagogy education or equivalent of at least 15 credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way.
