Duty Officer to Färingsö and Svartsjö Correctional Facilities

About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transports. About the Workplace The Stockholm West operations area in the beautiful Ekerö Municipality includes the open correctional facility Svartsjö, the partially open women's facility Färingsö, and the remand prison Färingsö. Approximately 170 employees and ten managers administer, lead, and develop the operations, which receive about 270 inmates. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but the facility also employs healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others. Inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or woodwork, crafts, manufacturing, and assembly. The inmates also operate an ecological farm with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. The two facilities are within walking distance of each other and are accessible by bus or car. At both facilities, you park free of charge in our staff parking. Job Responsibilities As a Duty Officer, you will operatively lead and allocate daily work at the facility/remand prison in consultation with the correctional facility inspectors. Your responsibilities also include staffing matters in the form of short-term scheduling, where you ensure we have the right number of employees in the right places. In this work, you will collaborate with our central staffing team. The Duty Officer represents the employer and ensures that the management chain is maintained throughout to all employees. The work is varied and often maintains a high tempo. In your role as Duty Officer at the Stockholm West operations area, you anchor decisions, communicate clearly and directly, and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. Some of the responsibilities of this position include: monitoring daily security work and taking measures when necessary, creating and developing systems for monitoring daily security operations, ensuring that laws, regulations, directives, and security plans are followed. You will also assist the leadership at Stockholm West in work on systematic fire prevention, search and urine testing strategy/monitoring, local safety meetings, statistics, training activities, security plans, etc. You exercise operational management based on operational needs, with transports and security work as particularly prioritized areas. Decision-making occurs according to Swedish Prison and Probation Service regulations. Outside office hours, the Duty Officer is the highest local operational decision-maker under the on-call Facility Director. Within the Stockholm West operations area, a total of ten Duty Officers will work – a team of five at Färingsö facility and a team of five at Svartsjö facility. These ten Duty Officers will together form the Stockholm West operations area Duty Officer group with a shared manager. The group will work closely together on procedures and structure and will cover for each other during, for example, training, vacations, or other absences. Work is conducted according to a 5-week rotation schedule with day, night, and weekend shifts. The schedule includes seven night shifts during a five-week period, and all work shifts are 12 hours long. Digital Presence Strategist

In the role as strategist for our digital presence, you will drive efforts to improve the user experience for the Swedish National Agency for Education's external audiences.
