Sector Manager, Social Services at Vara Municipality

As Sector Manager for Social Services, you will have an important and meaningful leadership role. You will be a key player in shaping a modern, preventive, and accessible social services organization, while also contributing to the development of the entire municipal corporation.
About the Assignment
As Sector Manager for Social Services at Vara Municipality, you have overall responsibility for the sector's operations, budget, and approximately 500 dedicated employees. The sector encompasses elderly care, individual and family services, as well as support for people with disabilities and labor market services.
You report to the Municipal Director, are part of the municipality's management group, and work in close dialogue and collaboration with the elected politicians in the Social Services Committee to realize the committee's goals.
Your main challenges and opportunities in the role:
Close to politics: You have close and trusting collaboration with the Social Services Committee, where you translate political visions into practical reality and provide strategic support in complex welfare issues.
The new Social Services Act: You lead and drive the transition toward a more proactive, accessible, and knowledge-based social services with focus on early interventions.
Digitalization and operational development: You identify and implement digital tools and welfare technology that free up time, improve quality, and enhance the work environment for employees.
Talent acquisition and development: You ensure that competence is developed and used appropriately in the organization based on users' needs and a good work environment for employees.
Municipal corporation development: You look beyond your own sector. You drive development that meets the needs of social welfare, while also contributing to Vara Municipality's overall goals and collaborate broadly within the municipal corporation as well as with regional and intermunicipal cooperation bodies.
Your Profile
We are seeking a courageous and strategic leader who is inspired by change and development.
Education: Relevant academic degree.
Experience: Several years of experience as a manager at strategic level within social welfare, or areas that the employer deems equivalent. You have a very good understanding of working in a politically governed organization and experience driving transformation and development processes.
Leadership: You have a holistic perspective and see the value in collaborating across organizational boundaries. As a leader, you are communicative, trust-based, and lead with a strong ethical compass, and have the ability to engage your employees in development work. You build strong relationships with stakeholders, employees, and collaboration partners.
