Water & Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager
Vara Municipality is in a development phase with major establishments and expansion projects in housing, infrastructure, and municipal facilities. As of January 1, 2026, Sector Society was established – a cross-functional organization that brings together responsibility and expertise to plan, implement, manage, and develop the municipality's physical environment and internal services in a sustainable, efficient, and long-term manner. We are now looking for a Water & Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager who wants to be part of developing the future water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure in Vara Municipality. Your Role As a Water & Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager, you will have a central role in developing Vara Municipality's water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure. You will work with investigations, design, and implementation of investment and reinvestment projects within the water and wastewater sector. The role is part of the municipality's combined portfolio for Infrastructure and Development projects where investments are planned and implemented in close cooperation between Water & Wastewater, Streets/Parks, Real Estate, and Planning & Growth. You will work closely with the Water & Wastewater Manager, operations organization, investigators, project controllers, consultants, and contractors, contributing water and wastewater expertise and project management skills throughout different project phases. Your assignment includes, among other things: Managing and coordinating water and wastewater-related parts within the municipality's infrastructure and development projects Preparing technical documentation, budgets, schedules, and decision-making materials Participating in procurement and serving as client representative to consultants and contractors Cooperating with operations, investigators, project controllers, and other project managers to ensure efficient implementation Contributing to the development of the municipality's project model, portfolio management, and common working methods Participating in planning and development of future water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure Your Knowledge and Experience The role requires both technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to cooperate with many different stakeholders. We therefore see that you have: University education in water and wastewater, civil engineering, environment, road and water, or other education that the employer deems equivalent Experience in project management within water and wastewater, civil engineering, or other technical infrastructure Ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up projects regarding time, budget, and quality Interest in development work, digital working methods, and system support Strong ability to collaborate and build trustful relationships Strong ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing Category B driver's license Meritorious is experience from municipal operations, public procurement, or work with water and wastewater-related legal and land issues.
