Salivary gland tumors are a heterogeneous group of tumors originating in the salivary glands of the head and neck region. The prognosis for patients with malignant salivary gland tumors is typically very poor, as there are no effective treatments for recurrent or metastatic disease. The treatments currently used (surgery and radiation therapy) are also often disfiguring from both a functional and aesthetic perspective. The research group has extensive experience studying salivary gland tumors and has identified several driving genomic alterations in these tumors. Duties We are looking for a researcher to help develop a new targeted treatment for salivary gland tumors. As part of the project, the researcher will plan, design, and conduct research that includes, among other things, the culture of primary/short-term-cultured tumor cells in 2D and 3D models, drug treatment/screening, proliferation/apoptosis/spheroid assays, quantitative PCR, RNA-seq, and immunoblot analysis. The duties also include project management, supervision, and written and oral reporting of research data. Qualifications A Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., biomedicine or molecular biology) is required. Postdoctoral research experience in the field is preferred. Previous experience with cell-based assays, in vitro drug treatment, and the culture of salivary gland tumor cells is highly preferred.
