Senior UX Designer at Samhall

Shape how design and AI meet at Samhall Samhall has undergone a technology transformation where user needs are the starting point for everything we develop. Now we're looking for a senior UX designer to join our new design unit. What does the future of UX work look like in practice? That's the question we want you to help us answer. We believe the answer moves away from manually designing interfaces toward finding new paths from insight to tested solutions. For us, AI is not the goal but the tool: it handles the repetitive work and frees up time for human connection and creating value. We're looking for someone driven to explore possibilities, with the judgment to decide what meets our standards, and the systems thinking to build your insights into our design system. About the role You'll be part of our design unit, working with a design director, three service designers, and a UX designer as your closest colleagues, and you'll work closely with Samhall's technology and service teams. You'll drive UX work in your daily responsibilities, mentor your junior colleague, and take over UX initiatives currently managed by consultants. Your mission is to further develop our insight-driven and iterative UX approach, establish AI as a natural part of it, and ensure that Samhall's digital solutions are intuitive, effective, and accessible—not least cognitively. We keep customer and employee journeys in focus in all design decisions. Parts of the way of working are already in place, while we're building other parts now: you're not inheriting finished structures; you're helping shape them. You'll, among other things: · Explore before you build: gather insights through interviews, observation, and co-creation, and understand the problem before choosing a solution. · Work hypothesis-driven and user-close: test functioning AI-supported prototypes with real users in tight loops. · Make usability testing part of your daily work as Samhall's testing activities grow. · Own and develop our design system: principles, tokens, and patterns that AI-assisted development builds directly on, so every draft starts closer to right. · Build a way of working that learns: insights from every test feed into the next loop and make our AI support smarter. · Be the one raising quality: review and curate what's produced, with care for usability, consistency, and detail. · Make accessibility a given: accessibility is built in from the first draft, and your usability tests naturally include people with different conditions. For us, a solution isn't complete until it works in its real context. Who you are · You have substantial experience in UX or interaction design, and you've built or owned a design system used in production. · You've established ways of working that didn't exist before you arrived, and you know what it takes to make them stick. · You're driven to understand the people you design for, and you listen before you solve. · You can prioritize holistically: deciding what's most important to solve now and what can wait. · For you, AI is a natural tool in design work, and you quality-review what's produced. · You see accessibility as a natural part of good design. You have deep knowledge of standards like WCAG, but you also know that real accessibility is proven in meeting users, not in a checklist. For us, experience is less about years and more about what you've done with them. You share Samhall's values and are thoughtful, reliable, and engaged. Why Samhall Samhall exists so people with disabilities can develop through work. For a designer, that's something few employers can offer: the users who set the highest demands for good design are your colleagues. Designing together with them provides insights few others get, and creates solutions that become better for everyone. Application and practical information Interested in joining us? We warmly welcome your application! Please submit your application by clicking the button below; unfortunately, we're unable to accept applications and CVs by email. At Samhall, people work with many different backgrounds and experiences, which we believe makes us a more creative and enjoyable workplace. That's why we're always looking for people who in different ways can help broaden our perspectives. The recruitment process consists of several steps, including meetings, tests, work samples, case interviews for final candidates, and reference checks. We'll contact you about your application and status in the recruitment process as soon as we can after the final application deadline. Unfortunately, we have difficulty finding time to answer questions and hope the information in this listing is sufficient. To learn more about us, our mission, and daily work, please visit our website: www.samhall.se We're advertising this position, which means it's available to fill once we've completed the recruitment process. The exact start date will be determined between the hiring manager and final candidate, where we naturally take into account notice periods and other factors affecting the ability to begin employment with us. Employment type: This is a permanent position at 100% with a 6-month probationary period Location: This position is based at our office in Linköping or Stockholm. Elementary School Director with Focus on Results and Equity

Your Responsibilities In this role, you will be the immediate supervisor of ten people – a well-structured group consisting of five specialized staff members and five managers, four of whom are area directors. You will lead and develop the department through close, trust-based and strategic collaboration with your area directors, who in turn lead and support our principals. Together, approximately 120 managers and about 2,800 staff members work for our students, who currently number around 16,200. Your assignment involves translating national reforms and political objectives into concrete, successful school development in the classrooms. A particular focus lies on accelerating work to raise academic results and increase equity between our schools. You are expected to lead at a high pace in change management, analyze the effects of our initiatives, and navigate based on changing demographic and economic conditions. Your main responsibilities: Strategic leadership and governance: Lead, unite, and develop the elementary school department's organization toward set goals. Results and follow-up: Drive systematic quality work with a strong focus on demonstrating and raising the impact of our pedagogical and financial investments. Create stable conditions and work peace for principals and teachers by prioritizing, protecting the core mission, and balancing demands and expectations. Labor cooperation: Cooperate with and maintain constructive dialogue with labor unions. Media and national focus: Represent elementary schools in media contexts and actively promote Linköping schools on the national stage through networks and collaboration. Your Workplace Because our current elementary school director, after 10 years in the role, is now rounding out their working life and retiring, it is time to hand over to the next person who wants to take on this important assignment. Your assignment spans the entire municipality's geographic area and includes approximately 70 operations within the elementary school department. The elementary school department is characterized by a self-driven, positive, and professional group of area directors and principals who value participation and strong shared ownership of school development issues. We offer a workplace at the center of events where you receive qualified administrative support. Here you encounter complex but deeply stimulating challenges in an organization that dares to think in new ways and where we together make a difference for every student, every day. During the school year 2026/2027, our current elementary school director will remain in the organization but in the role of experienced advisor and will become a natural mentor in the assignment for you when you join us. About You Pedagogical university education with a degree as an elementary school teacher or leisure activities teacher, or alternative education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience working as a principal within elementary school. Experience in a management role with personnel, financial, and operational responsibility. Solid knowledge of elementary school's national steering documents, school law, and ongoing reforms. And you have very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish, as the assignment involves extensive reporting to politicians and boards as well as external communication. We consider it meritorious if you also have experience leading other managers. And experience of successfully driving digitalization, AI applications, and system development within school operations. We would like to see that you have good experience with media management and understanding of the modern media landscape and the impact of social media. To succeed and have legitimacy in this highly strategic role, you need to have a stable foundation in the profession and extensive experience with the school's internal work. You need to have good self-distance, thrive in interpersonal encounters, and possess personal confidence that allows you to stand firm even during periods of high change pace and complex situations. You are confident in your leadership with a clear perspective on the whole, which is an absolute prerequisite because you operate in a large, politically governed organization where your decisions directly affect 68 schools with entirely different needs. You understand your role in the municipal governance chain and have a pronounced ability to place the elementary school's assignment in a larger context – you consider the entire education administration's and Linköping municipality's best interests in both actions and decisions. This means you can translate complex societal issues, demographic changes, and political directives into strategic priorities that create long-term value and increased equity for all students in Linköping. With very good judgment, you make well-considered assessments before decisions, balance local interests against the administration's overall goals, and handle difficult trade-offs with high personal integrity and professionalism. Because elementary schools face major demographic changes, economic transitions, and intensive national reforms, it is crucial that you are very flexible and change-oriented. You have the ability to quickly adapt your leadership and strategies to changed circumstances and can shift perspectives when conditions require it. You have good judgment, make well-considered assessments even in pressured situations, and handle difficult issues with high integrity and professionalism. You are a confident and stable leader who builds trust and engagement, while daring to make decisions. Your problem-solving analytical ability allows you to quickly identify patterns and propose sustainable solutions. You work in a structured manner, take initiative, and drive processes toward goals with focus on operational needs. With social confidence and personal maturity, you are responsive and have very good collaboration skills that build strong constructive relationships at all levels in the organization. Other Information When you apply for a position in Linköping Municipality, you register your application through login via e-identification (such as BankID or FrejaID) instead of email. Student Job in Social Entrepreneurship

About Synge Synge is a small consulting firm in Linköping with operations in international sourcing and business development. The company was founded in France in 2013 and relocated to Linköping in 2020. Synge operates as a social business, a business model that can be described as a combination of charity and traditional entrepreneurship. Like other companies, Synge needs to be profitable to operate independently and long-term. Unlike traditional companies, however, all profits are reinvested in projects with societal value. Over the years, this has primarily involved guesthouses, retreats, interdisciplinary work-aways, and book publishing. The next initiative is Agape Guesthouse, a vision for a new type of meeting place in central Linköping that combines coworking, afterwork, and event space. More information is available at www.synge.earth. About the Role The role is a combination of business apprentice, researcher, and junior consultant. The workload is normally around 10-30 hours per month but can vary over time. A large part of the work involves supporting Synge's own development by: • Identifying potential customers and collaboration partners • Mapping markets and business opportunities • Conducting research and analysis • Preparing presentations and decision-making materials • Contributing ideas for new projects and initiatives When client assignments are available, the work may also include international sourcing, business development, market analysis, and other consulting-related tasks. Beyond consulting work, you'll have the opportunity to follow and contribute to the development of Agape Guesthouse and other social entrepreneurship initiatives. The role is particularly well-suited for someone who is curious about how companies can be used to create not only economic value but also good workplaces, strong relationships, and meaningful communities. About You You are nearing the end of your university studies or have recently graduated. Prior work experience, association involvement, volunteer work, or personal projects are merits. The role requires that you communicate fluently in both Swedish and English. You either have a strong connection to Linköping or an ambition to build a long-term relationship with the city and its people. It is particularly interesting if you: • Are curious about social entrepreneurship and alternative ways to build operations • Enjoy analyzing, investigating, and understanding complex issues • Have a genuine interest in entrepreneurship, organizations, and human collaboration • Are comfortable in environments where ideas develop long-term rather than quickly • Value learning, relationships, and personal development equally as much as career and financial success The role is probably best suited for someone who sometimes thinks about bigger questions than just the next career step. If such questions spark your curiosity, there's a good chance you'll thrive at Synge. Synge Offers • Flexible solutions regarding working hours, compensation, and collaboration format • Opportunity to participate in the development of a social enterprise and its projects • Practical experience in business development, entrepreneurship, and consulting • Great freedom to shape the role over time Application Send your CV and a cover letter to Jan Herstek, founder of Synge, at [email protected].
