Our vision and goals are aimed at delivering the highest quality care, where the patient is always the focus. Our employees are our strength and they contribute to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new ways of working, we can simplify daily operations at the hospital and provide modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality. About the Unit The Self-Harm Unit at Östra Hospital is tasked with providing nationally specialized care for patients with difficult-to-treat self-harming behavior. Patients come to the unit from across the country through planned admissions via referral. All care is based on voluntary participation and willingness to change. On the ward, patients are offered psychotherapeutic treatment adapted to individual needs and cognitive functioning. Treatment periods last between 18-24 weeks, with patients having access to a multidisciplinary team consisting of physicians, nurses, psychologists, caregivers, treatment assistants, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and dietitians. Service user participation in various forms is an integrated part of the ward's work, including peer support. The care process is guided by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is set within an environmental therapeutic context. In addition to inpatient treatment, we also conduct outpatient interventions such as consultation for treatment providers, education, and supervision. The unit conducts research related to this patient group and works with continuous service development in accordance with our mandate. We also have beds for user-directed admission. This care model allows patients who are in contact with psychiatric outpatient services to voluntarily admit themselves for shorter stays. They sign a contract with the outpatient clinic and ward and can be admitted without a physician assessment and without going through psychiatric emergency services. Starting in November, during periods of high occupancy at the Affective Disorders Clinic's wards, we will temporarily provide support by accepting patients in need of traditional psychiatric inpatient care when beds are unavailable. What Do We Offer? You will be offered mentoring alongside experienced colleagues, appropriate training for the role, as well as continued professional development and supervision. The ward is the first of its kind in Sweden, which means there are great opportunities to engage in further developing the ward's mandate as well as in ongoing research projects. We offer you employment security, and it is important to us that you enjoy your job and get along well with your colleagues. We want you to feel good, and we offer activities that promote well-being in connection with work and parental benefit supplements. Job Responsibilities Using DBT and the DBT Skills System as your method, you work in a team with colleagues to coach, teach, and support the generalization of skills. You work closely with patients and follow them throughout their treatment by planning, organizing, and implementing various treatment activities together with patients both on and off the ward. In addition to contributing to patients' psychotherapeutic treatment, you are also responsible for the day-to-day operations associated with a 24-hour care ward as well as somatic care tasks such as monitoring, blood tests, and wound dressing changes. Registered Nurse at One Way In Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Drottninggatan
Together we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Working together with patients, we strive for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation—within a unified healthcare system in the Västra Götaland Region. Our vision and goals are aimed at care of the highest quality, where the patient is always in focus. We offer healthcare locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care to patients throughout the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength and they contribute to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new ways of working, we can simplify daily operations at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality. About Us To meet both current and future tasks and goals, we are now seeking a registered nurse for One Way In. One Way In (EVI) is a regional contact center for children and young people with mental health issues in Västra Götaland. EVI also handles referrals to all of the region's child and adolescent psychiatry clinics and provides advisory calls from, among others, young people, guardians, and care partners. Organizationally, EVI belongs to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. One Way In is located in central premises in Gothenburg and here a team of approximately 20 people works to provide the region's children and young people with the right psychiatric care at the right time and at the right level. Registered nurses, psychologists, physicians, and healthcare administrative secretaries work here, and we are now seeking a team member with the profession of registered nurse. At EVI we work in a multidisciplinary manner and benefit from each other's experiences and expertise. We also continuously provide training for staff in areas relevant to our operations and we collaborate with BUP's outpatient clinics in the region, as well as care partners and collaboration partners such as primary care, social services, and school health services. Work Tasks Your workday at One Way In consists mainly of two parts—assessing incoming referrals and staffing our advisory telephone line. Guardians and to some extent young people call the advisory line with questions about mental health, and your task is to, with the support of developed triage documents and current regional medical guidelines (RMR), triage them to the right level of care (child and adolescent psychiatry or primary care), or alternatively provide self-care advice. Care partners and collaboration partners also call the advisory line. In referral assessment, all referrals to child and adolescent psychiatry in the region are handled, including self-referrals. These are assessed by a team of at least two employees and here too the main task is to triage to the right level of care. As an employee at One Way In, you also have the opportunity to be part of the further development of the operation, i.e., participate in various working groups regarding, for example, training and internal planning and development. There is also the possibility of remote work for part of the working time. About You We are seeking you as a registered nurse. You have very good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing and good knowledge of English. You have good IT skills. We consider it meritorious if you have previous experience working with children and young people with mental health issues and/or experience with referral assessment. Great importance is placed on your personal qualities, where among other things good conduct is central in telephone contact with children/young people and their parents. Since you work in a team with referral assessments and have contact with various collaboration partners, you also need to have very good collaboration skills. To thrive in the role, you need the ability to maintain quality and pace in methodical and recurring tasks. At the same time, you need to be flexible and able to shift focus when priorities change. We warmly welcome your application! Interviews are planned for weeks 34-35. We may schedule interviews on an ongoing basis during the application period, so do not wait to submit your application. Meet Some of Our Employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital If you are a newly graduated registered nurse, you will be included in the Clinical Base Year, which is our introduction program. Additionally, there is a placement in another department to broaden your competence. Description BUP Serious Behavioral Disorders (BUP-ANB) is a new regional operation starting in 2026. The operation builds on the government assignment Integrated Care (2021–2024) and will offer specialist psychiatric care to community-placed children and young people up to age 21 with serious behavioral disorders and simultaneous psychiatric care needs, when standard outpatient care is insufficient. The unit will be built with four mobile interprofessional teams consisting of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare administrators.
