Chief Physician, Otolaryngology (ENT)
Visby Hospital has a broad healthcare mission and provides Gotland with acute and planned specialist care. The island location requires the resources of a large hospital while simultaneously offering the proximity and community feel of a smaller one. A wide range of services are represented within both surgical and medical specialties. The ENT department is responsible for ear, nose, and throat care for Gotland's approximately 60,000 residents and handles around 7,000 visits per year. Operations are conducted in close collaboration with other surgical specialties, the dermatology clinic, and the Oral and Maxillofacial Center. We strive to maintain as much ENT care as possible at Visby Hospital. We have well-established cooperation with Stockholm and regular consulting physicians in tumor surgery, otologic surgery, plastic surgery, audiology, and phoniatrics. Patients requiring highly specialized care are referred primarily to Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm. The ENT department has six chief physician positions and is currently undergoing a generational transition.
