Our oncology clinic is responsible for oncological care and treatment for residents of Jämtland and Härjedalen. The role includes both curative and palliative care and treatment as well as follow-up of these patients. We have high expertise among our staff at the clinic with nurses, assistant nurses, and both specialist-trained physicians and physicians in training. The clinic has a well-functioning system with contact nurses. At the clinic, there is a cancer rehabilitation team. We also work closely with Norrland University Hospital in Umeå; oncology consultants from Umeå regularly visit. Adjacent to the clinic is the palliative care ward with 8 beds. Patients with palliative cancer diagnoses are primarily cared for there today. Some of the clinic's patients are also connected to palliative home care. The clinic and ward are part of the Surgery Division, and specialist physicians from our oncological and palliative units are responsible for care. Upon interest, you will have the opportunity to observe at the palliative care ward. Östersund Hospital is the only one in our region and houses most of the healthcare specialties. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Standard work tasks as a physician at the clinic, such as examining and following up patients, providing support to nurses, signing and following up test and X-ray results. The most common diagnoses at our oncology clinic are breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, malignant melanoma, prostate cancer, and urinary tract cancer. QUALIFICATIONS You who are applying must be an eligible licensed physician, i.e., you have Swedish medical license. Alternatively, you have a medical degree or have completed at least semester 10 of the medical program in Sweden with approved courses and exams so that we, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations, can employ you on a locum arrangement as an unlicensed physician. You have Swedish language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale. Experience with oncological palliative care is advantageous. Very great weight is placed on your personal qualities such as your ability to build a sustaining relationship with patients and relatives, that you easily collaborate in a team at the clinic as well as with other involved colleagues at the hospital, primary care, and municipal care. Type of employment: Fixed-term employment. Duration: 6 months or longer, ends: 2027-02-28. Locum position for 6 months with possibility of extension.
