Researcher in Advanced Microscopy of Lignin

Department of Chemistry (Kemikum), with more than 200 employees, is one of the largest departments at Stockholm University. Research at the Department of Chemistry spans all areas of chemistry including analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, inorganic and structural chemistry, and organic chemistry. The research projects are diverse, ranging from theory to experiments, from basic research to more applied projects often with a focus on sustainable chemistry as well as advanced analytical methods for chemicals and materials. The Department of Chemistry has a well-developed research infrastructure with a range of equipment and qualified support from senior researchers. The Department of Chemistry also hosts undergraduate chemistry education and three master's programs: analytical chemistry, sustainable chemistry, and organic chemistry. More information about us can be found at: Kemikum Project Description The position is linked to three research projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC; CIRCULIG), the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF; SUSLIG), and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW; LIGNOLOOP). A common challenge for these projects is to develop advanced methods for analysis and visualization of lignin in various liquid and solid media. The successful candidate will join the research group Sustainable Materials Chemistry (SUSMATCHEM), which develops sustainable materials from industrial side streams with a particular focus on lignin. The research group consists of approximately 25 employees with broad expertise in chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering, creating a strongly interdisciplinary and collaboration-oriented research environment. Responsibilities The primary responsibility is to conduct scientific research. The researcher will focus on advanced microscopy and development of analytical methods for lignin-containing materials. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to project management, scientific communication, and dissemination of research results through scientific publications, presentations, and other forms of research communication. Qualifications A researcher is employed primarily for research and must hold a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Evaluation Criteria Special weight will be placed on scientific excellence. The applicant should have documented experience in characterizing lignin using microscopy techniques and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaboration-oriented research environment. Strong communication skills are required. Documented experience with synthesis, characterization, or application of lignin-based colloidal materials is a merit. As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's student welfare work and collaborate with the principal and other school staff. Your responsibilities include providing supportive, guiding, and motivating conversations with students, providing guidance and consultation to educators. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute knowledge about society's support systems and work with targeted educational initiatives on values and approaches. You will assist the school with expertise in social legislation and community resources and perform student welfare work at the individual, group, and organizational levels. The goal is to give students the best possible start in life, both academically and socially. In your role as school counselor, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating your work independently based on our governing documents and the curriculum. You will be placed at Ängskolan, which is an F-9 school (preschool through grade 9). We want you to have a degree in social work. Experience from work within social services is meritorious, as is previous experience as a school counselor. We want you to be communicative and have an easy time listening and adapting your communication style. You have the ability to collaborate with different professions and be part of the whole that contributes to safety, well-being, and learning for all our students. The ability to build trusting relationships with students, guardians, school staff, and colleagues is a prerequisite for success in this role. We want you to contribute to the overall student welfare work with your professional expertise. Personal qualities weigh heavily. This is a permanent full-time position. As a qualified case handler, you will encounter an eventful workday with varied tasks. You work independently but also in teams to ensure that administrative work functions smoothly.
