The ward for patients with heart failure, angina, post-myocardial infarction care, arrhythmias, etc. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (HIA) with 5 beds, where patients with acute myocardial infarction, threatening angina, or severe cardiac arrhythmias are treated. The Investigation Unit is a weekly ward with 8 overnight beds plus day care spots where patients from the four northernmost counties are investigated and treated in connection with coronary investigation & balloon angioplasty (PCI), evaluation before valve surgery, bypass surgery, and electrophysiological procedures such as ablations, pacemaker/ICD insertion, PFO closure, and much more. As part of our university hospital mission, we investigate and treat patients with cardiomyopathies and other hereditary cardiovascular diseases, adults with congenital heart defects, severe or complicated heart failure cases, and have responsibility for introducing new treatment modalities throughout the northern health care region. The Neuro-Head-Neck Center (NHHC) consists of approximately 650 employees and is located at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå. The center provides care with various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases and injuries of the nervous system, brain, ear, nose, throat, and jaw surgery. The center is a regional clinic where highly specialized care is provided for patients from the entire northern healthcare region, and conducts research, education, and development. The Neurology Clinic has both planned and acute operations where the patient is always in focus. We have a large patient flow with both short and longer hospital stays. The operations include outpatient clinics with general and highly specialized neurological care, a neurology ward with both acute and planned investigation and treatment activities in areas such as movement disorders, epilepsy, and motor neuron diseases. Position Responsibilities The postdoctoral fellow will conduct independent research in gender studies with an educational science focus on the theme: Youth, Violence, and Gender in Schools. Schools play a central role in efforts to promote safety, democratic values, and gender equality. Issues of violence in young people's close relationships, honor-related violence, youth perpetration of violence, and recruitment into criminal environments underscore schools' responsibility as learning environments and social arenas. Against the backdrop of increasing polarization and the report Schools Against Crime (SOU 2024:14), we aim to strengthen research on violence, safety, and gender in school environments. Research might address, for example, how issues of violence, safety, and vulnerability are shaped in relation to norms, gender relations, and schools' values-based work. Critical perspectives on norm-criticism, safety, and inclusion in school environments are also relevant within the scope of this call's theme. The research must be described by the applicant in a research plan submitted with the application for the position. As a postdoctoral fellow, you are also expected to contribute to the unit's shared research environment and to participate in and support a pedagogical environment. Teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and advanced levels, and possibly doctoral level, as well as certain other research-related administrative tasks may comprise up to 20% of your working time. The Department of Molecular Biology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how the obligate intracellular bacterial pathogen Chlamydia trachomatis establishes and maintains its intracellular niche and impacts host cell biology.
