About the Job Organic solar cells (OSCs) are based on semiconducting carbon-based materials that absorb visible light and convert solar energy into electrical energy. Compared to commercial silicon solar cells, organic solar cells have unique advantages. For example, they can be manufactured through inexpensive printing technology (organic semiconductors can be dissolved in organic solvents and thus used as ink), they can be made semi-transparent in various colors, and can be used architecturally by being integrated into buildings, which provides both aesthetic and environmental benefits. OSCs also have a shorter energy payback period compared to other solar cell technologies (the energy needed for the production of OSC devices is repaid after six months of use under typical sunlight conditions in northern Europe). Organic solar cells have traditionally been limited by their relatively low efficiency (approximately 10%). However, the situation has changed significantly in recent years with a recently reported efficiency of over 20%. The main reason for this significant improvement is the application of fullerene-free acceptor materials. Despite the rapid progress in efficiency, little is known about the physics and photophysics of this new type of fullerene-free solar cells. The candidate will focus on understanding generation and recombination, particularly photoluminescence quantum yield, in fullerene-free OSCs, with the goal of paving the way for rational design of donor and acceptor materials for further improved efficiency. Some challenging behavior may occur among the residents. The group home has five apartments and common spaces where people can spend time together if and when they want company from neighbors. In our common kitchen, we prepare all meals together. We support our residents in all areas of life, both inside and outside the group home. Most individuals living in the group home have very limited verbal communication and express themselves through few words, gestures, sounds, and body language, but also through alternative and augmentative communication such as picture support. You Who Are Applying We are looking for someone with a vocational education as a support pedagogue or other post-secondary education deemed equivalent. You have experience working in support, care, and healthcare. Since several of our residents have limitations in verbal communication, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of AAC (alternative and augmentative communication), such as picture support or sign language as support.
