Your work tasks As a Traffic Planner you are offered a developing and varied work where you together with your colleagues work for a well-functioning and sustainable traffic system. In this position as a traffic planner, you have special responsibility for the municipality's traffic signals as well as work with traffic analysis. This means that you become the unit's expert in these matters and contribute your expertise in investigations, infrastructure projects and operational planning. You are responsible for the development and construction of traffic signals. Development work involves analyzing the need for changes to the municipality's traffic signal systems, participating in infrastructure projects and ordering the design/programming of new systems. Development work also includes optimizing current systems based on changes in the traffic system and other configuration of control systems. The position also includes collaboration and dialogue with the operations engineer who is responsible for the operation of the traffic signals. Within traffic analysis you conduct capacity calculations at intersections and traffic simulation, which is also important input for the development of traffic signals. You will have great opportunity to influence the long-term planning of infrastructure measures within Linköping Municipality and participate in various stages of the municipality's urban development projects. Examples of work tasks: Development work in the area of traffic signals through investigations and participation in infrastructure projects Traffic analysis through capacity calculations at intersections and traffic simulation Participate in operational planning where the unit defines the projects to be implemented based on committee goals and strategic plans Participate in networks within relevant work areas Your workplace The City Environment Department maintains and develops attractive, functional and accessible public spaces, such as squares, parks and streets, in Linköping Municipality. At the City Environment Department you belong to the City Environment Development unit which works with the development and planning of municipal public space. The unit includes, among others, traffic planners, landscape architects and municipal ecologists. The unit is the client for investment projects and these are carried out by the administration's project organization. As a traffic planner you belong to the Infrastructure group which consists of 8 traffic planners. The group works to create a functional, accessible and safe physical traffic environment in connection with the planning and construction of the municipality's pedestrian and bicycle paths, streets and roads. Our work group is characterized by community and drive. Here you get a good opportunity for development, training and participation in interesting projects. We are located in a newly built, activity-based office in Ebbepark. The possibility exists to work remotely 1-2 days per week by agreement with your immediate manager. You who apply We are looking for you with a degree from university or college within "communication, transport and society", civil engineering or urban planning, or alternatively other relevant academic education. If you have taken courses in traffic signals and/or traffic analysis through your education, this is seen as a merit. It is strongly meritorious if you have experience of work within the areas of traffic analysis and/or traffic signals. Through your experience you have acquired a good understanding of the complexity and function of the traffic system in urban planning. Experience of project work is meritorious as assignments are often conducted in project form, which requires both the ability to drive processes forward and achieve set goals. A valid driver's license (category B) is required as travel occurs in the position. During the course of work you will prepare and interpret written documents that can be complex, therefore you need to master the Swedish language. We are looking for you with good analytical skills and who can contribute different solutions when your team faces challenges or when the goals of your assignment change. You are a confident person and can independently prioritize and drive your work forward. You have good cooperation skills and you listen to your team and other actors you meet in your work.
