Assistant Principal with Personnel Responsibility and Focus on Pedagogical Leadership

At Preschool Viljan, we believe in the competent child, the co-researching educator, and the power of relationships. We are an independent preschool inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy with two preschools in Ytterby. Hälleberget with three departments and Stället with four. We are now seeking an assistant principal with a clear focus on pedagogical leadership, personnel responsibility, and development of strong teams, because at Viljan both children and adults grow. About Viljan Preschool Viljan is a well-functioning operation with a clear identity, strong values, and engaged staff. Over many years, we have built a culture characterized by trust, participation, and shared responsibility based on our core values: Security/Meaningfulness/Equality/Joy. After nearly 20 years, we are now taking the next step in our leadership organization. To create even better conditions for close leadership, we are strengthening our management team with an additional assistant principal. You will be an important part in carrying forward our pedagogical idea, our values, and the relationships built over time. Our ambition is a sustainable organization with a focus on relational pedagogy and good conditions for pedagogical work. This is evident, among other things, in that we work with over-capacity in staffing instead of temporary staff. We have outdoor educators who develop our outdoor learning environments, atelier teachers who make space for children's hundred languages, our own kitchen where meals are prepared from scratch, and a caretaker who supports our learning environments. About the Assignment As an assistant principal, you have personnel responsibility for the educators at both our preschools. This allows educators to focus on the quality of their work. Your responsibilities include: • development and salary reviews • recruitment and onboarding • rehabilitation matters and staff support • competence development • continuous support to teams through ALU (team development) • work with group dynamics, culture, and team development • responsibility for the preschool's child health work • main responsibility for systematic quality work (SKA) In this role, you work closely with our current assistant principal as well as the principal and finance manager. Together, you form a leadership team where you complement each other based on different areas of responsibility. We are Looking for You You are a confident and present leader who enjoys developing people and creating good conditions for collaboration. You believe, just as we do, that good quality for children is created through secure relationships, engaged educators, and well-functioning teams. You feel at home in an operation where the child is seen as competent, the educator as a co-researcher, and where reflection, curiosity, and relationships are central parts of the culture. You have a genuine interest in Reggio Emilia's pedagogical philosophy and see the value of an exploratory approach to learning and leadership. We welcome both you who today work as an assistant principal and you who have experience leading people in preschool and are ready to take the next step in your career. We believe you: • have a preschool teacher degree • have experience with leadership in preschool or other pedagogical activities • have experience with personnel responsibility or team leadership • are skilled at creating trusting relationships • can handle difficult conversations in a professional and respectful manner • have good judgment and the ability to see the bigger picture • enjoy supporting teams in development and change • are humble toward an operation with established practices and a strong culture We Offer With us, you get the opportunity to be part of further developing a well-functioning operation with a strong culture, clear pedagogical idea, and high ambitions. You will receive: • a meaningful leadership assignment with great opportunity to influence • close collaboration with the principal, assistant principal, and engaged colleagues • a workplace where we take seriously that both children and adults have the opportunity to grow Send your application to [email protected]. We encourage you to apply today, but no later than August 9.
