The TFCO (Treatment Foster Care Oregon) method is theoretically grounded in social learning theory and is the result of many years of research on how we can best help children and families who have gotten off track. TFCO-C is a treatment program that combines foster care with intensive community-based services. The goal is to help the child practice positive interactions and behaviors in multiple contexts: in the treatment foster family, with their parents, at school, in leisure activities, and with relatives and their network. The aim is for the child (7–11 years old) to be reunified with their biological family or to achieve a secure life in a foster family.
