Description / About me and my everyday life I am a 66-year-old man with ALS living alone in my apartment. I have a tracheostomy and receive help with tracheostomy care, suctioning, and ventilator use, which means I have dual assistance 24/7. I communicate using an eye-tracking computer and a spelling board. I receive nutrition through a feeding tube. I also have a catheter and am treated with insulin for my diabetes. I enjoy going for walks, spending time with my children and grandchild, having fika, and watching sports, among other things. I visit healthcare facilities often and need my assistants' help getting there. Now I'm looking for you who want to work as a personal assistant and provide me with the support I need to have a safe and meaningful everyday life. Common work tasks for you as a personal assistant As a personal assistant, you work closely with the user and provide support in various life situations. The user requires life-sustaining services due to his tracheostomy. To work with the user, you must be trained in tracheostomy care and receive delegation from the National Respiratory Center (NRC). We will provide you with that training. Since the user does not have verbal speech, you need to be able to support and help him communicate with the world around him. The user has an eye-tracking computer that he communicates through, but may need help communicating via a spelling board when he doesn't have access to the computer. The user has a catheter and is fed through a tube. The user needs your help emptying the catheter bag and connecting the tube feeding to the pump. The user also has type 2 diabetes and is treated with insulin. You therefore need to be able to help him administer insulin by injection. The work also includes support with personal hygiene and housework at home. The user is mobilized with a wheelchair and ceiling lift. You therefore need to help him with transfers. As a personal assistant, it is part of your role to document how the assistance has worked and to participate in work on implementation plans and procedures so that the user receives support in the way he wants and has decided. The role also includes participating in meetings with your employer and colleagues to ensure that the assistance maintains good quality and is based on the user's needs and wishes. Since the work is carried out together with another personal assistant, good collaboration is an important part of the work. PERSONAL ASSISTANT HÄGERSTEN/STOCKHOLM
We are now seeking a personal assistant who will have an important role and become a significant person in our client Nadia's everyday life. She lives alternately every other week with her parents and her twin sister. Nadia communicates through words, picture support, and TAKK sign language. Nadia is a spirited and determined girl who knows what she wants, has a great sense of humor, and is affectionate with those close to her. She especially enjoys being outdoors and using her wheelchair, swimming, and playing with balls. You will work hourly as needed when Nadia is with her father, where you will receive customized introduction/training in all aspects of Nadia's support needs. Daily work consists of assisting with tasks that Nadia cannot do herself. She needs help with food and drinks during meals and with personal hygiene. Active and constant supervision due to Epilepsy and mobility limitations are part of the job duties. Nadia also needs help staying active through play and exercise. Nadia trains her body every day—both as a preventive measure to maintain the functions she currently has, and to support her development. The Assistant's Role and Experience As a person, you need to be playful, thorough, responsible, attentive, proactive, and positive. It's beneficial if you have experience in care work or working with children.
