We provide you with thorough onboarding, support from close leadership, and the tools you need to succeed in your role. Description / About me and my everyday life I am a 66-year-old man with ALS living alone in my apartment. I have a tracheostomy and receive help with tracheostomy care, suctioning, and ventilator use, which means I have dual assistance 24/7. I communicate using an eye-tracking computer and a spelling board. I receive nutrition through a feeding tube. I also have a catheter and am treated with insulin for my diabetes. I enjoy going for walks, spending time with my children and grandchild, having fika, and watching sports, among other things. I visit healthcare facilities often and need my assistants' help getting there. Now I'm looking for you who want to work as a personal assistant and provide me with the support I need to have a safe and meaningful everyday life. Common work tasks for you as a personal assistant As a personal assistant, you work closely with the user and provide support in various life situations. The user requires life-sustaining services due to his tracheostomy. To work with the user, you must be trained in tracheostomy care and receive delegation from the National Respiratory Center (NRC). We will provide you with that training. Since the user does not have verbal speech, you need to be able to support and help him communicate with the world around him. The user has an eye-tracking computer that he communicates through, but may need help communicating via a spelling board when he doesn't have access to the computer. The user has a catheter and is fed through a tube. The user needs your help emptying the catheter bag and connecting the tube feeding to the pump. The user also has type 2 diabetes and is treated with insulin. You therefore need to be able to help him administer insulin by injection. The work also includes support with personal hygiene and housework at home. The user is mobilized with a wheelchair and ceiling lift. You therefore need to help him with transfers. As a personal assistant, it is part of your role to document how the assistance has worked and to participate in work on implementation plans and procedures so that the user receives support in the way he wants and has decided. The role also includes participating in meetings with your employer and colleagues to ensure that the assistance maintains good quality and is based on the user's needs and wishes. Since the work is carried out together with another personal assistant, good collaboration is an important part of the work. Your competence and experience To be a candidate for this position, you need to: • be 18 years or older • have experience working within LSS and/or personal assistance • have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written • have experience working with people with ALS • have experience working with people requiring tracheostomy care It is a plus if you have: • nursing assistant training or other relevant healthcare and care training • experience with dementia and type 2 diabetes • experience working with people who have feeding tubes and catheters • experience working with lifts • experience working with people who need dual assistance • experience working with medical technical equipment • experience documenting, following, and working based on individual implementation plans and procedures Great weight is placed on your personal qualities. If hired, you must provide a certificate from the police criminal and suspicion register. The certificate must not be older than 6 months from issuance.
