About the Role As an animal care specialist at Furuviksparken, you will have a varied, responsible, and meaningful job where animal welfare and guest experience are at the center. You work daily with the care of our animals and are an important ambassador for both the animals and Furuviksparken. In this role, you combine practical animal husbandry with theoretical knowledge about animals and nature that you share with our visitors and schoolchildren through tours and presentations. Through your commitment, you contribute to increased understanding of biodiversity—and to memories that last long for everyone who visits us. Your Responsibilities As an animal care specialist, your role includes: Working daily in accordance with procedures and guidelines with the care of everything from reptiles and amphibians to large primates Optimizing animal welfare by examining, planning, implementing, and evaluating behavior-focused environmental enrichment Planning, implementing, and developing positive reinforcement-based animal training that promotes animal welfare and enables voluntary participation in care and veterinary procedures Assisting with animal transport and veterinary procedures Conducting and documenting behavioral observations Participating in systematic animal welfare evaluations and contributing to continuous improvement work Ensuring correct and ongoing record-keeping and documentation in ZIMS Participating in systematic occupational health and safety work and developing work methods and procedures Mentoring apprentices Meeting guests and schoolchildren and inspiring and educating them through tours, presentations, and guided experiences You will also be an active part of Furuviksparken's sustainability efforts and contribute to ensuring the operation meets all regulatory and industry requirements. We Are Looking for Someone Who: Has education in animal care, zoology, biology, or equivalent, or comparable work experience Has documented knowledge of scientifically-based animal welfare evaluations and handling training of exotic animals using positive reinforcement Enjoys both independent work and teamwork Is responsible and takes initiative Communicates well and enjoys meeting guests, both on stage and with a microphone Holds a valid B-category driver's license It Is Beneficial If You: Already have experience working with ZIMS and Zoomonitor Have strong abilities to search for, read, and understand scientifically-based information Have complementary training in animal health care, animal transport, or similar fields Are familiar with and have previous experience working according to the SPIDER model Practical Information: This is a permanent position with a six-month probationary period.
