The opportunity We are looking for a skilled Embedded Software Engineer with strong Linux expertise to join our software team at Hitachi Energy, Grid Automation Products in Västerås. In this role, you will work on feature enhancement and quality improvements of user-space applications running on real-time Linux systems, in the scope of intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) for substation automation. How you'll make an impact Yocto Distribution: Build, integrate, and customize embedded Linux distributions using the Yocto Project, ensuring reliable software integration, configuration management, and alignment with product requirements. Ethernet Communication: Design, integrate, enhance and fine-tune ethernet communication in embedded systems, including redundancy protocols such as IEC 62439-3 (PRP, HSR) and IEEE 802.1w (RSTP). Feature Development: Write, test, and maintain high-quality code for embedded systems. Develop and optimize applications for real-time Linux environments, ensuring low-latency and high-reliability performance. Automated Testing: Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure the reliability, correct functionality and performance of user-space applications. Apply virtualization and emulation techniques for testing. Strong understanding of Ethernet communication, Linux networking architecture, and the implementation and debugging of network drivers, interfaces, and protocol stack components.
