The service is based on the government assignment Integrated Care (2021-2024) and provides specialist psychiatric care to community-placed children and young people up to age 21 with serious behavioral disorders and concurrent psychiatric care needs when ordinary outpatient care is insufficient. The unit will be built with four mobile interprofessional teams consisting of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and administrative staff. Approximately 25 employees will work in the service. The target group is children and young people with complex psychiatric and social comorbidity, often with experience of care breakdown, repeated placements, and serious mental health issues. The service area covers the entire Västra Götaland Region. Initially, the service focuses on adolescents placed in SiS homes, but placement in HVB homes and within the Prison and Probation Service is also planned. The unit belongs to the operational area Neurology and Psychiatry for Children at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, within the section Child and Adolescent Psychiatric 24-Hour Care and Specialty Clinics. The service is mobile with team-based work in close collaboration between professions. About the Operation We are a surgical inpatient ward that cares for patients before and after surgery. We have high patient turnover and offer stimulating and varied work where the pace can be both fast and slow, where no two days are alike. We provide surgical care following colorectal surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, urology, vascular surgery, and otolaryngology. A large part of our operations consists of planned surgery, but we also conduct around-the-clock admissions from the emergency department and other clinics to our urological, vascular, and otolaryngology sections. With us, you will be involved in development and improvement initiatives that continuously advance us and patient care. Surgical Ward 15 has 24 patient beds staffed by dedicated registered nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, and other important health professionals who work together as a team around patients. We also have nurses with specialist functions. We have also started a collaboration with Professor Anna Forsberg, sometimes called the queen of nursing care. Together with her, we develop structures to create safe care relationships with continuity, systematic daily assessment and analysis of the patient's health and situation using head-to-toe examination (all patients should be examined by a nurse with a caring touch each shift), and to strengthen nurses in their leadership role. On the unit, you will work with a digital patient overview via a personal tablet that you carry with you during your shift. The tablet provides you with an excellent overview of your patients, their information and condition, medication lists, and the work tasks you and your colleagues need to complete. These are permanent full-time positions with a start date by agreement. Duties Your duties include caring for postoperative and acutely ill patients, which includes practical tasks such as: - administering medication - infusions and injections - managing pain pumps But also more administrative tasks such as: - patient education - identifying nursing needs and risk areas Together with our nursing assistants, you will plan and lead patient-centered work. You will gain broad competence covering surgical care of chronic and acutely ill patients and develop a deeper understanding of the patient's condition.
