We are seeking approximately 30 student ambassadors for a temporary position within Line 14 at the Department of Communication and Collaboration Support. About Us The Unit for Student Recruitment and Marketing is part of the Department of Communication and Collaboration Support. Uppsala University hereby announces a position as Assistant Professor in Media and Communication Studies at the Department of Informatics and Media and the Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies The Department of Informatics and Media (IM) brings together researchers in three subject areas: media and communication studies, information systems, and human-computer interaction. The research profile in media and communication studies is broad and encompasses questions related to digitalization, discourse studies, the role of media in society, and organizational communication. The Department also has extensive teaching responsibilities in degree programs and individual courses within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies (IRES) is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University. IRES has a widely recognized, integrated multidisciplinary long-term research program with deep focus on recent developments in Russia and the broader post-Soviet sphere. We also analyze more specific themes such as security and insecurity, decolonization, illiberalism, resource conflicts, and the interaction between humans and nature. Employment Period Employment as Assistant Professor can be held for a maximum of four years with the possibility of promotion to Associate Professor. An employee hired as Assistant Professor shall, after written application, be promoted to Associate Professor if, following expert review, they are deemed to meet the qualification requirements established by the respective subject or faculty board and as stated in the information about the vacant position. Additional criteria for promotion to Associate Professor are found in Uppsala University's Employment Regulations and the Faculty of Social Sciences' supplementary guidelines (section 2f). Duties Research and teaching in Media and Communication Studies with focus on Russia and Eurasia. Teaching includes course responsibility, supervision, and course administration. The position may also include administrative tasks. The teaching component amounts to a maximum of 50 percent. Qualifications Eligible for employment as Assistant Professor is a person who holds a doctoral degree or has attained equivalent scientific competence and meets the requirements for teaching aptitude.
