Preparations include new IT systems, building a regional medication warehouse, and developing new working methods. The change entails full responsibility for hospitals' pharmaceutical supply and will be of great significance for healthcare's robustness, accessibility, and preparedness. The development does not stop at taking over the pharmaceutical supply. The coming years will be characterized by several strategically important initiatives, particularly those related to NAV – New Acute Hospital Västerås. When the first phase is launched in 2029, Pharmacy Service will have a central role in developing workflows and medication supplies in new care facilities. In 2030, a new production facility for cytostatic manufacturing will be launched, creating new opportunities for the operation's continued development. Today, approximately 30 employees work within Pharmacy Service. The operation includes pharmaceutical supply, medication dispensing machines, medication service, ward pharmacy, and manufacturing of cytostatics, sterile extemporaneous preparations, and radiopharmaceuticals.
