Here you'll work on projects ranging from major infrastructure investments to local assignments within industry and municipalities. The Role of Geotechnical Engineer As a Geotechnical Engineer, you'll work both analytically and practically. You'll be involved in the entire chain – from analysis to fieldwork and on to technical solutions. Your tasks will include: - Plan and coordinate geotechnical investigations - Perform stability and settlement calculations - Prepare technical descriptions and reports - Support construction and project managers - Participate in fieldwork related to projects The position involves some travel, averaging approximately 5–6 overnight stays per month. About the Team The Umeå team consists of two road and water engineers specializing in geotechnics (both junior and more experienced), complemented by several field resources with a geoscience background who work extensively with field data collection and management. The group also includes a more junior apprentice developing within the field. Work is conducted in close collaboration both within the team and with geotechnical engineers at other locations, providing support, knowledge exchange, and breadth of projects. Your Role on Our Team In the Metering Department, you will have significant responsibility with considerable freedom. You will largely plan your work independently in dialogue with your nearest colleagues and other departments internally. The position includes a mix of office and field work. Examples of work tasks: Monitoring and analysis of power quality in Umeå Energi's electrical network. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing power quality instruments Various troubleshooting and resolution of power quality matters Various troubleshooting and resolution related to billing metering Plan outages for installation of new power quality instruments. Assist the customer department with questions regarding billing metering in high-voltage connection matters Inspections of customer facilities as needed Programming of HSP meters Work with loss calculations in the low-voltage network to detect and address high network losses. Plan 6-year inspections of subscriptions ≥80A When needed, investigate unauthorized energy diversion A day at work might start with you reviewing data and investigating error reports. You will check incoming cases in WMS and distribute work orders to metering technicians. If incoming cases need further investigation, you will contact electrical installers. You will also program power quality instruments and HSP meters as well as work with maintenance of power quality instruments, troubleshooting, and resolution of meter data collection in the field. You have ongoing customer contact, which requires a relationship-focused approach. You will become an important part of a dedicated team that always puts Umeå first.
