About the Position The Acute Care Unit (AVA) is in an exciting development phase with a clear mandate in highly specialized acute care. We care for patients with acute deterioration of vital functions or unclear conditions requiring investigation, stabilization, monitoring, and treatment. At AVA we provide advanced acute care including treatment such as non-invasive ventilation (NIV), high-flow oxygen therapy (High Flow), blood gas analysis, telemetry monitoring, and frequent NEWS2 assessments. We also care for patients with tracheostomy and epidural pain relief (EDA). Common conditions include arrhythmias, pulmonary embolism, intoxications, COPD, sepsis, febrile neutropenia, electrolyte disorders, and burn injuries. Average length of stay is approximately 1.5 days. We work in two teams, each consisting of one nurse and one nursing assistant with shared responsibility for four patients. During day and evening shifts, a charge nurse leads daily operations and is also present during daytime on weekends.
