We are recruiting a clinical geneticist or associate clinical geneticist to the unit for Clinical Pathology and Genetics. Clinical genetics in Örebro was established in 2022, and we have successfully built a solid foundation with significant laboratory development and the establishment of outpatient services. We have excellent opportunities to build efficient workflows from the ground up and can develop and implement genetic diagnostics through close collaboration with other clinics in the Region. Responsibilities You will work closely in a team with specialists, resident physicians, genetic counselors, clinical geneticists, associate clinical geneticists, biomedical analysts, molecular biologists, and bioinformaticians. As a clinical geneticist, you will independently interpret diagnostic genetic analyses for both hereditary and acquired diseases and participate in laboratory operations. Currently, we primarily use massively parallel sequencing technology for exome sequencing and targeted panels; MLPA is also performed. Additional molecular methods and new techniques in molecular genetic diagnostics may become relevant in the future. Our unit is research-intensive, and business development is a natural part of the work. You will have the opportunity to conduct self-funded research or actively participate in others' research projects in parallel with clinical work. Qualifications Educated clinical geneticist with practical experience in clinical molecular diagnostics and experience interpreting genetic analyses, or a PhD molecular biologist / biomedical analyst with substantial experience in genetic diagnostics. Experience with MPS/NGS, bioinformatic analyses, and validation and quality work in genetic analyses is meritorious. Swedish language level C1, or alternatively Norwegian or Danish. About the Organization The Clinical Laboratory Medicine business unit has overall responsibility for laboratory medicine services provided at laboratories within Örebro University Hospital, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindsberg Hospital. We operate a broad range of services in clinical chemistry, bacteriology, virology, immunology, transfusion medicine including therapeutic plasma pheresis treatment, pathology, cytology, and molecular genetics.
