Auction Assistant - Karljohan Auktioner
Karljohan Auktioner is a modern auction house based outside of Lund. Our auctions are listed on the major auction portal Auctionet virtually daily and are sold almost every day as well. We have buyers both within Sweden's borders and beyond. Our sellers are more local and are usually located within Scania. We are now looking for an auction assistant who can help with daily work in our showroom. About the position The role involves, in many ways, being our staff member "on the floor" when it comes to handling the functions that are important for a modern auction house to operate: Photography Our main focus is on straightforward product photography of the items we take in for auction. Since we handle entire estates, this can range from small vases to larger furniture pieces. - Packing and wrapping. Part of online auctions, of course, is that as a buyer you don't need to be near us, which is why we ship a large quantity of sold items every week. Therefore, it is a daily routine to prepare items that Auctionet will come and pick up for further transport. - Home visits and item collection. As part of our work to acquire fine items for our auctions, we are frequently out doing everything from small and large pickups to complete estate clearances. As needed, you may also be able to assist with these. General "Unpretentious" is certainly an overused expression in job postings, but when it comes to our showroom, everyone pitches in to keep our viewing space in good condition for our visitors. This can partly consist of tidying up when needed, but of course also providing a pleasant welcome when customers are in the space. About you We have no special requirements, other than that you speak and write Swedish fluently. Is this your first job ever? Great! Wonderful! Do you come from extensive work experience in something completely different? Great! Maybe you can bring input that we otherwise wouldn't have thought about in our little bubble? Have you previously worked in the auction industry but are interested in joining people who are young and hungry in the field? Well, then you're perfect on paper. As mentioned, we place the most weight on personal chemistry and our belief that you will become an important cog in the "wheel" of Karljohan Auktioner. We also believe that you are an organized and thorough person who can handle work tasks in a structured and efficient manner. You should also be comfortable working toward certain deadlines, as we have a certain number of items that need to be completed for publication each day. Since some driving may be needed, we expect that you have a driver's license with at least B-category authorization. Work at an auction house today is not particularly glamorous and sometimes quite physically demanding—but often very rewarding. You should therefore have a reasonable level of fitness to handle the items that come in, although of course various aids are available. Most importantly, we value that you have a certain feel for photography and perhaps even more so that we believe you will fit well with our small team. Development Although we understand that the job market doesn't always look that way today, we would like to see you interested in staying and growing with us. We are in a very expansive phase and gladly reward loyalty and good chemistry with the team through additional areas of responsibility. For example, it may be that you will help with customer service in the showroom. Initially at item handovers, but in due course we also hope you will become involved in the evaluation and intake of items. About us We are currently the two founders, (Karl) Oscar Lundberg and Anders (Johan) Forsberg, who run the company and staff it daily. For larger estate clearances, we also bring in additional assistants. Although we have worked together for a total of about fourteen years, we are open to input from other sources; quite the contrary, we appreciate it if you become a contributing part of our small team. Application Submit your application via email and mark it "Auction Assistant." We will respond as soon as possible, but since we are currently limited in staff, this may sometimes be delayed. Please note that the position may be filled before the final application deadline and that selections are made on an ongoing basis.
