Your future workplace The Swedish Forest Agency has a government assignment to implement rewetting of previously drained peatland. In order to scale up and continue developing rewetting work, we are seeking a forest consultant for a permanent position at Kronoberg District. Rewetting involves raising the groundwater level on historically drained peatland to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to being a tangible climate measure, it has positive effects on biodiversity and water management. Rewetting work contributes to several Swedish environmental quality objectives such as Living Forests and Reduced Climate Impact. Job responsibilities Your tasks as a rewetting planner may include the entire chain from initial GIS analyses to identify potential rewetting areas, dialogue with landowners, to finally implementing practical ditch blocking and subsequently monitoring its effects hydrologically as well as for nature conservation and climate-adapted timber production.
