Key job duties: respond to information about criminal offenses or other legal violations, proceed to the scene of the incident; conduct patrols and implement necessary security measures to prevent and detect legal violations, apprehend violators, prevent unauthorized events and disturbances; upon detecting an administrative violation, initiate and ensure proceedings in an administrative violation case, make decisions in the prescribed manner; initiate and conduct departmental inspections; upon detecting a criminal offense, initiate criminal proceedings and conduct initial investigation activities; conduct tests for the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating substances in the manner prescribed by regulatory acts; regulate the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, as well as prevent legal violations while moving along patrol routes (according to deployment) or while stationed at a patrol post; provide assistance to victims, identify witnesses to the incident or offense, ensure cordoning off and guarding of the scene; search for, apprehend persons wanted, vehicles and property, as well as apprehend persons held under suspicion of committing criminal offenses and administrative violations. Requirements for candidates: compliance with requirements specified in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on Officials of Institutions of the Ministry of Interior System and Prison Administration with Special Service Status; first-level professional higher education (legal sciences, civil and military defense, business and administration, social and human sciences, computer science); state (Latvian) language proficiency – highest level C; Category B driver's license; activated secure electronic signature.
