Job Description The Swedish Prison and Probation Service operates certain open health and medical care services, which means that all correctional facilities and detention centers have health clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, the clinics also have general practitioners and psychiatrists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, and you will also determine which patients should see a doctor. This means you work with both physical and psychiatric health and medical care for inmates, assist at medical clinics, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Your Future Workplace Unit 24 is a general psychiatric unit where we assess and investigate psychiatric conditions in patients in need of inpatient care. You will meet patients with various psychiatric diagnoses, conditions, and needs, which makes the work varied and developmental. The unit also has two care beds for voluntary admission. This fall, we moved into the newly built psychiatric building on the hospital grounds in Västervik, where we have now consolidated all adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in the same building. You will have the opportunity to work in spacious, beautiful facilities with staff areas that offer a beautiful view over the city of Västervik. We are part of the Psychiatry Department in Region Kalmar County. Within the department, a total of 600 employees work with specialist psychiatric care for adults, children and young people, forensic psychiatric care, and rehabilitation care.
