Cybersecurity Expert – RISE CSDI
Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT department issue – it's a fundamental societal matter. At RISE CSDI, we work to strengthen Sweden's resilience against digital threats by combining deep technical expertise with the ability to translate complex knowledge into understanding and action. We are now seeking a cybersecurity expert who wants to do both – strengthen our team from within and work directly with the organizations we serve. About RISE CSDI RISE CSDI – Center for Security Design and Innovation – brings together expertise in security design, transformation leadership, innovation management, and applied research in security-critical situations. We combine scientifically grounded methods with practical application in the public sector, business, and civil society, contributing to strengthening Sweden's ability to meet complex societal threats. About the Position The role of cybersecurity expert at RISE CSDI has a clear dual focus. On one hand, you contribute to raising the collective cybersecurity capability within your immediate team – by sharing knowledge, introducing new tools and methods, and helping the organization stay at the forefront. On the other hand, you work directly with our partners and customers – authorities, municipalities, and organizations in the total defense ecosystem – to help them understand and manage their cybersecurity challenges. You are equally comfortable with deep technical dives as you are explaining threat landscapes and risks to an executive group without IT background. You follow with curiosity how new technology – not least AI and automation – is changing both the threat landscape and the opportunities for strengthened security. The position is placed in security classification, which means a security clearance will be conducted before employment in accordance with the Security Protection Act. Your responsibilities: • Conduct risk assessments, security analyses, and provide advice to customers and partners in the public and private sectors • Contribute to building and strengthening cybersecurity capability internally at RISE CSDI, including through knowledge sharing, training, and methodology development • Communicate complex technical threats and security contexts to non-technical decision-makers and business leaders • Follow and implement new technology – particularly AI-driven tools and automation solutions in security work • Participate in or lead assignments within Sweden's total defense framework, including collaboration with authorities and municipalities • Contribute to RISE CSDI's work with environmental scanning and keep the team updated on current threats, vulnerabilities, and trends What We Offer • A role at the intersection of cutting-edge technical expertise and societal impact • Access to RISE's broad network of researchers, experts, and collaboration partners • Opportunity to work in and with Sweden's most advanced cybersecurity test environments, including our Cyber Range • Continuous competence development in a rapidly changing and technology-intensive environment • An inclusive organizational culture with strong focus on collaboration and shared goals • Flexible work arrangements and competitive employment terms Who Are You? You have a solid technical foundation in cybersecurity and have gained your experience from practical work in complex environments. You combine deep technical understanding with a clear ability to communicate – you are equally at home in a technical forum as in front of a board or municipal leadership. Requirements: • Documented experience in cybersecurity work within risk management, vulnerability analysis, incident handling, or security architecture • Ability to explain technical security issues in an understandable way to audiences without technical background • Curiosity and active interest in new technology, particularly AI and automation within the security field • Ability to work cross-functionally and maintain a holistic perspective in complex collaboration environments • Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken Merits: • Experience working with or advising authorities, municipalities, or other public sector organizations on cybersecurity matters • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, ISO 27001, DORA, or MSB regulations • Experience with cybersecurity in total defense context, critical infrastructure, or security-classified environments • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent • Experience with SOC work, threat intelligence, or security automation (SOAR) Personal Qualities: You are someone who is driven by making security understandable – not just technically robust. You see it as your task to build trust, disseminate knowledge, and strengthen other organizations, not just examine them. You are curious about how AI and automation are changing the threat landscape and see these technologies as tools you want to master, not threats you should warn against. You are comfortable in a role that involves both internal knowledge work and external customer meetings. You are equally engaged when helping a colleague understand a vulnerability as when standing in front of a new customer explaining why cybersecurity is a leadership capability – not just a technical issue. Are We Right for Each Other? Within RISE, we appreciate differences, and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where together we can push boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. We cannot promise you an easy job, but what we can promise is an exciting journey where, together with engaged and talented colleagues, we will contribute to a sustainable future and be at the forefront of global competition. Do you want to join us? Welcome with your application! If this sounds exciting and you want to know more, you are welcome to contact Erik Bakkman, Unit Manager Security Design and Innovation, at [email protected]. The application deadline is September 25th. Selection and interviews take place continuously during and after the application period. Apply without a personal letter.
