Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. For students who cannot commute daily, we offer residential accommodation at the school. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are seeking a teacher to instruct Väner School students in grades 8-10. You will teach English and Social Studies as well as one additional subject. You will be part of a teaching team responsible for students in grades 8-10. As a teacher with us, you will play a central role in creating a positive and secure learning environment where each student has the opportunity to develop both academically and socially. You have a secure and clear leadership style in the classroom and create structure through clear boundaries and expectations. The position includes responsibility for managing national exams, written assessments, and grading. You will plan, implement, follow up on, and evaluate instruction in class, independently and with colleagues. You have documentation responsibility related to instruction and other aspects of the educational mission. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who: Education: • Certified teacher Other competencies: • You can work independently and adapt instruction based on the needs present in the learning environment. • Experience working with students who have neurodevelopmental disabilities. • A solution-focused and positive approach. • It is advantageous if you have experience working in a sign language environment. Language skills or communication methods: • Swedish Sign Language and Swedish. It is advantageous if you have teaching experience within special education. About the Position As a teacher with us, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on science instruction for grade 9 students. Your duties include, among others: Planning, implementing, and evaluating science instruction. Assessing and documenting students' knowledge development. Adapting instruction based on students' different needs and circumstances. Creating a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment. Collaborating with colleagues, student support services, and guardians. Serving as a mentor and following a group of students' academic and social development. Contributing to the school's collaborative development work. The position is a substitute role at 60 percent, with the possibility of extension up to 80 percent depending on your qualifications and the organization's needs. An extension could, for example, involve combining the assignment with technology instruction. Working hours are initially scheduled for Wednesdays and Thursdays, plus one additional day of the week to be determined through discussion. The schedule may change during employment based on organizational needs. Start date is October 1, or by agreement, and the substitute assignment runs through the end of the 2027 school year. Qualifications or experience in technology are particularly meriting. We would appreciate experience teaching at the middle school level and confidence in assessment and grading practices. You have the ability to make instruction understandable, relevant, and engaging for students with different needs and circumstances. As a person, you are confident, clear, and relationship-building. You combine high expectations with attentiveness and care, and you find it easy to build trust with students, guardians, and colleagues. You enjoy collaborating while taking responsibility for independently planning and driving your work forward.
