Our Operations Psychiatric Unit 3B provides specialized psychiatric inpatient care for patients with affective disorders such as severe depression, bipolar disorder, personality syndromes, and severe anxiety disorders. We are located in modern facilities where inpatient care, outpatient care, and acute psychiatric care are all under one roof. About Us To ensure care quality, we actively work to develop a good and attractive working environment for nurses. Enabling recovery and health are important aspects of nursing care in a psychiatric unit. A clear focus on person-centered care allows individuals' own stories to shape the care provided. On the unit, we work in two care teams where a nurse, together with two nursing assistants, is responsible for half of the patients on the unit. As a lead nurse, you guide the daily nursing work. At the end of each shift, we have reflection sessions with the work group. We also have nursing rounds every week and regular supervision for the nursing team. Together, we develop a care plan with current and planned interventions, which are continuously evaluated. The unit has close and well-functioning cooperation with outpatient care, which ensures safe discharge with good follow-up and treatment even after discharge. We are a fun and diverse team of about 30 people consisting of nurses, both with basic and specialist training, a coordinating nurse, nursing assistants, assistants, and doctors at various levels. Your Assignment You are responsible for psychiatric and somatic nursing care. You conduct nursing assessments, perform treatment measures, manage medication administration, and maintain contact with family members and care providers. You document in the Cosmic journal system, supervise nursing students, and introduce new employees. Together with the nursing assistants in your care team, you prepare and conduct daily rounds on the unit. You are a key person who, together with your nursing colleagues, leads and distributes the work on the unit. Work days with us can look very different. Sometimes the pace is calmer and you can spend a lot of time talking with or activating patients, while other days can include acute situations of various kinds or coercive measures, when you as a lead nurse need to make quick decisions and handle stressful situations. Your Qualifications and Competence We are looking for someone who is a basic trained nurse who is either newly educated or has a few years of experience in the profession. What is important is that you want to learn more about psychiatry, that you are open, curious, and genuinely interested in people. Department of Crop Production Ecology Biology with a specialisation in ecology - The Department of Crop Production Ecology is seeking a PhD student in plant breeding and plant protection against insect pests. Description: Chemical insecticides have been an important tool for limiting crop losses caused by insect pests and insect-borne viruses, but their availability has declined sharply in recent years. Crop varieties with resistance, tolerance or other traits that enable them to avoid insect damage and viruses spread by insects will therefore be a cornerstone of future integrated pest management. The vision for the new project 'Node for Plant Breeding against Insect Pests and Viruses' within the centre SLU Grogrund is to reduce crop losses caused by pests and insect-borne viruses through crop breeding. The project focuses on insect pests and viruses in wheat, field beans, peas and sugar beet and is a collaboration between five departments at SLU and three plant breeding companies. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a PhD position within the Node, focusing on the broad bean beetle (Bruchus rufimanus), a key pest of field bean. Infestations by the broad bean beetle pose an obstacle to developing field bean cultivation and a market for field beans for human consumption. The PhD programme comprises both research and coursework. The main tasks within the research component will be: Examine the insect's life cycle in the field and in storage Develop methods for screening of broad bean beetle infestations in a large panel of plant breeding material Contributing to the development of DNA markers for resistance or tolerance to broad bean beetle, for future application in plant breeding You will collaborate on the project with other PhD students and senior researchers in plant breeding, crop production, entomology, virology and genetics, as well as with the industry and other stakeholders, primarily Lantmännen and NordGen. Laboratory and field work is planned to be carried out at both SLU's campuses in Uppsala and Alnarp, as well as at NordGen in Alnarp. Field work at other locations in Sweden may also be included. Varieties with resistance, tolerance, or other traits that enable avoidance of insect damage and insect-transmitted viruses will therefore be a cornerstone of future integrated pest management. The vision for the new Plant Breeding Node for protection against pest insects and viruses within the SLU Grogrund center is to contribute through plant breeding to significantly reduce crop losses caused by pest insects and insect-transmitted viruses. The project works with pest insects and viruses in wheat, faba beans, peas, and sugar beets and is a collaboration between five departments at SLU and three plant breeding companies. We are now seeking a highly motivated person for a doctoral student position who will work within the Node with a focus on the pest insect bean bruchid in faba beans. Attacks by bean bruchids currently present an obstacle to developing cultivation and markets for faba beans for human consumption. As part of doctoral education, both research studies and courses are included.
