Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua) Climate change is impacting aquatic ecosystems worldwide, creating an urgent need for management strategies that strengthen ecological resilience and support sustainable use of aquatic resources. In this two-year postdoctoral project, you will use quantitative evidence-based syntheses to identify how aquatic management can enhance ecosystem resilience to the impacts of climate change. This position offers opportunities for career development at the interface between ecological research and practical management through scientific publishing, conference participation, and stakeholder engagement. About the Position We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in evidence-based conservation and restoration ecology. The project combines fundamental ecological and evolutionary research with applied management science to address: Which management interventions most effectively increase resilience to climate change in aquatic ecosystems? How do dispersal, ecological interactions, and evolutionary adaptation influence the success of climate adaptation measures? How can evidence synthesis be translated into practical decision support for environmental managers? You will apply systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and other evidence synthesis methods to answer these questions. Advanced Screening of Emerging Environmental Contaminants in Food Chains
Department of Water and Environment Doctoral Program: Environmental Analysis with focus on Environmental Chemistry Description of the Doctoral Project: This doctoral project aims to increase understanding of emerging environmental contaminants (CECs) in food chains by using bioaccumulation and trophic transfer as strategies for chemical prioritization. The project will investigate how contaminants are transported from the environment to organisms and further through food chains, and how these processes can be used to identify substances relevant to ecosystems and One Health. The project will focus on one or several selected food chain systems depending on sample availability, collaborations, and scientific relevance. The project includes: i) selection of relevant food chain systems, biological matrices, and emerging environmental contaminants based on occurrence data, chemical properties, bioaccumulation potential, and available samples; ii) application of targeted analysis, suspect screening, and non-target screening with LC-HRMS to identify known and previously unknown substances in selected biological matrices; iii) evaluation of bioaccumulation, biomagnification, and trophic transfer patterns where appropriate data and samples are available; iv) use of samples from environmental sample banks, where available, to investigate temporal trends and enable retrospective screening; and v) linking of measured chemical patterns to potential environmental sources. You will work in an international and interdisciplinary research team. The project provides access to advanced instrumentation and training in data analysis, scientific communication, and international research collaboration. Main Responsibilities: We are seeking a doctoral student who wants to contribute to increased knowledge about emerging environmental contaminants in food chains, with particular focus on bioaccumulation, trophic transfer, and advanced chemical screening. To achieve this goal, you will develop and apply analytical workflows for detection and identification of both known and previously unknown substances in complex biological matrices. The work includes, among other things, sample preparation, extraction, and development of purification strategies for biological samples. The project will also include semiquantitative analysis of identified substances as well as evaluation of bioaccumulation, biomagnification, and trophic transfer patterns in selected food chain systems. When appropriate samples are available, material from environmental sample banks can be used to investigate temporal trends and conduct retrospective screening. Work tasks also include preparation of biological and environmental samples, extraction and analysis of target substances and unknown compounds, processing of large HRMS datasets, data analysis, statistical evaluation, interpretation of chemical patterns in relation to environmental sources, collaboration with national and international partners, and authoring of scientific articles in English. Qualifications Required: Basic eligibility is held by those who have completed a degree at an advanced level, completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits at an advanced level, or who in another way within or outside the country have acquired essentially equivalent knowledge (Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, ch. 7 § 39). Special eligibility for admission to doctoral studies in Environmental Analysis with focus on Environmental Chemistry is held by those with knowledge in aquatic ecology, aquatic biogeochemistry, statistics, or ecotoxicology. The undergraduate education should include an independent project. Additionally, you are required to have knowledge of English equivalent to a passing grade in English B/6 from Swedish upper secondary school. Your Background: Applicants should have a master's degree in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, chemistry, ecotoxicology, environmental science, food science, or equivalent. Specialization in chemical analysis of organic contaminants and experience with LC-MS, LC-HRMS, GC-MS, or other advanced mass spectrometric techniques is meritorious. Experience with suspect screening and non-target screening workflows is particularly desirable. Previous experience with chemical analytical laboratory work, particularly with complex biological, food, biota, soil, or sediment matrices, is an advantage. Knowledge of emerging environmental contaminants, bioaccumulation, biomagnification, trophic transfer, or time series analysis is considered meritorious. Skills in data processing using statistical computation, visualization, and data analysis tools (such as R, Python, or similar) are also meritorious. Great emphasis is also placed on personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, accuracy, motivation, and the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others. Priest Position at Åsarne and Rätan-Klövsjö Parishes in Jämtland
Southeastern Jämtland Pastorate consists of 16 parishes in Berg, Östersund, Bräcke, and Ragunda municipalities. Our staff work where the present meets history; from the ski resort Klövsjö, the cross-country skiing heartland of Åsarna, the Torvalla district in Östersund, to the area where Vildhussen once created Döda fallet. We are now seeking an associate pastor for the Southern area with responsibility for the Åsarne and Rätan-Klövsjö parish. As an associate pastor with us, you will work in a rural area where the church remains a natural gathering place throughout all life's stages. Here your relationship with the congregation becomes personal – you follow families through generations. Work as a priest in the area is characterized by closeness; you meet parishioners at the store, on ski trails, on village roads, and in the parish hall. You will conduct services in churches that carry history in their walls, while also being given space to shape a living and relevant parish life for today. In our villages, commitment is strong. In Rätan–Klövsjö and Åsarna, you will enjoy quality of life and nature right at your doorstep. Mountains, forests, and lakes frame your everyday life and provide space for stillness and renewal that can strengthen both your own spiritual life and your meetings with others. Proximity to the mountains with slopes, ski trails, and snowmobile routes in winter, as well as hiking trails for peaceful walks, running, and cycling in summer, make it easy to live well alongside your calling. You can read more here: Flytta till Berg - Bergsliv You will become a natural part of a parish with strong community and great confidence in the village. Here there is room for personal encounters, for conversations that take time, and for worship life where presence and participation are central. You will work in an area where people know each other, where the church means much to many, and where your presence makes a real difference. Your workplace will be in Hoverberg, where we have chosen to base our staff in the southern activity area. The position includes traditional pastoral duties with services, church rites, confirmation and youth activities, and it is a requirement that you are ordained in the Church of Sweden, have a B-level driver's license, and have access to your own vehicle. We actively work to develop three pilgrimage routes that pass through the parishes in our pastorate, of which Kårböleleden and Jämt-Norgevägen pass through our area. For those interested in pilgrimage, there are good opportunities to develop the pilgrimage vision in this pastoral position. We would like you to continue promoting and deepening our Sámi work and Sámi church life in our parishes. To succeed in this role, we see that you are confident in your self-image, your mission, and your faith/worldview. You understand, care for, and appreciate smaller contexts. We assume that you are curious about and willing to meet people in different life situations, that you are creative and take initiative, and that you are responsive to your colleagues. We are looking for someone who creates and maintains good relationships, who can organize and set boundaries both for yourself and in the organization. We also see that you are engaged in the confirmation team, which is a pastorate-wide working group. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
