Operating Room Nurse to Central Surgery Mora

About the Operation Are you an operating room nurse? Do you want to make a difference? Our vision is to be a clinic at the forefront of excellence. Mora is a town with proximity to nature and mountains that invites outdoor activities and an active lifestyle year-round. Mora Hospital is one of Region Dalarna's two emergency hospitals. The catchment area has approximately 80,000 residents, but outdoor facilities in Sälen and Idre, along with major sports events both summer and winter, create significant tourist flows. Mora Hospital combines the charm of a small hospital with the functionality of a trauma center. The Operation, Anesthesia, and ICU Clinic consists of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Central Surgery (C-op), Day Surgery Mora (DKM), and Sterile Technique. The ICU cares for approximately 1,500 patients per year, of which approximately 500 are ICU patients. At C-op and DKM, approximately 4,500-5,000 operations are performed annually, primarily surgery and orthopedics but also some urology. Sterile Technique handles goods from surgical departments, care units, and clinics at the hospital as well as from all health centers in Region Dalarna. We maintain close collaboration with other clinics and also provide external services at the hospital including sedation/anesthesia at clinics, emergency response teams, and advanced care during secondary transfers to other hospitals. Work Responsibilities As an operating room nurse, you will be part of the operating team alongside nursing assistants and anesthesia nurses. You are responsible for systematically planning and organizing work related to surgical procedures, ensuring hygienic and aseptic principles are maintained, and preventing infection transmission. Other standard operating room nurse duties apply. At our Central Surgery, we have fixed scheduling. Daytime work Monday-Friday is 40 hours per week. On-call duty involves three shifts Monday-Friday, two shifts on weekends, with active night shift work. As operations currently function, you'll have the opportunity to work daytime Monday-Friday, and rotational duty with day/night/weekend shifts may become relevant in the future. Department A4 is an acute medical care unit. With us, you will meet and care for patients in need of both acute and planned postoperative care, with a focus on upper and lower gastroenterological, thoracic, vascular, urology, ENT, and oncological surgery patients. The department has 18 care beds and, if needed, two overflow beds. With us, you will experience variety in both pace and work tasks, and you will have the opportunity to become both well-rounded and a specialist in acute medical care. Your Work Tasks In your role as a registered nurse with us, you are responsible for your care team and lead patient care. You work together as a team, with a particular focus on the patient's condition, planning, and treatment. You are expected to have a patient-centered approach and recognize that each patient has unique needs and circumstances, where the patient's next of kin are also important contributors and resources. Influence, participation, and work satisfaction are keywords for your daily work, and we see patient safety, collaboration, and communication as important components. In the department, you primarily work with acute care, preoperative preparations, and postoperative care. You are responsible for, among other things, managing peripheral and central catheters, blood sampling, monitoring and assessing NEWS2, fluid balance, feeding tubes, drains, epidural anesthesia, and stomas. Pain relief and mobilization are also important work tasks. As a new registered nurse with us, you will receive an individually tailored introduction based on your competence and experience. Who Are You? You are a licensed registered nurse, and it is advantageous if you have previous experience from inpatient care. For us, it is important that you are driven by a desire to develop care and the unit with the patient at the center, as well as actively sharing your knowledge with colleagues and being equally curious to learn from their expertise. As you work in constant dialogue with patients and colleagues, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with patient-centered care, is motivated by improvement work, and wants to create and develop our department and our methods.
