Manager
Do you want to lead an operation grounded in forestry with a focus on rural development? Some leadership roles are about short-term gains, while others are about creating value that endures for generations. As Manager of Orsa Besparingsskog, you will be responsible for over 60,000 hectares of productive forestland. You lead an operation that for nearly 150 years has created value for the local community and approximately 2,000 co-owners – where every decision impacts both current and future generations. This is an assignment for someone who wants to lead and develop one of Sweden's most significant forestry operations. Here you combine strategic leadership, sustainable forestry, and genuine social responsibility in a role with considerable mandate and long-term accountability. About Orsa Besparingsskog Orsa Besparingsskog was founded in 1879 with the aim of creating long-term prosperity for the local community and co-owners. Core operations consist of long-term, sustainable forestry and timber sales. With approximately 60,000 hectares of productive forestland, the forest forms the foundation of the operation. Additionally, the organization manages several complementary activities, including properties, cottage rentals, and cultural buildings, which together create value for the local community. Each year, a significant portion of the surplus is reinvested in the community through grants for forestry maintenance, roads, and development projects. This makes us far more than a forestry company – we are a long-term societal actor with a clear mission to develop both the forest and the local community. We have approximately 27 dedicated employees who together create value with a perspective that extends far beyond the next quarterly report. About the Position As Manager, you are the organization's highest-ranking operational executive with overall responsibility for all of Orsa Besparingsskog. The role is in many ways comparable to a CEO position, with broad responsibility for operations, finances, organization, and long-term development. You lead the organization through the management team and work in close collaboration with the board. This is not a role where you sit at a desk all day. One day you work on strategic decisions and business development, the next day you meet with co-owners, discuss sustainability issues, monitor finances, or are out in the field working alongside your employees. You will join an organization with high competence and strong commitment, where an important task is to establish a long-term direction for the operation. Together with the board, you will shape the future of Orsa Besparingsskog and develop the organization based on the opportunities and challenges ahead. The role involves many points of contact. You lead the operation, work closely with the board, and become a natural representative to co-owners, authorities, contractors, partners, and the local community. It is a role where business acumen, sustainability, and social responsibility must go hand in hand. About You We are looking for a confident and experienced leader with solid forestry expertise. You have a good understanding of how the forestry industry works and operates, but above all, you have the ability to lead people and build trust. You are accustomed to making decisions even when issues are complex and multiple interests need to be weighed. For you, it is natural to communicate with people at different levels and build long-term relationships. You are driven by development, see opportunities where others see challenges, and have the ability to translate strategies into concrete results. We also believe you appreciate being a visible and present leader. To succeed in the role, you need to be comfortable being part of the operation and building relationships both internally and externally. We would like to see that you have: Higher forestry education or equivalent work experience Several years of experience in a leadership position with responsibility for operations, personnel, and budgets Good understanding of forestry business and conditions Experience with strategic leadership and business development Good financial acumen Very strong ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written If you have experience in timber trading, working with boards, or managing complex organizations with multiple stakeholders, that is a merit. What We Offer This is an assignment that few employers can offer. At Orsa Besparingsskog, you have the opportunity to lead an operation with proud traditions and high ambitions for the future. You will have considerable mandate, dedicated employees, and a board that wants to develop the operation together with you. You will become part of an organization where the decisions you make have real significance – for the forest, for the community, and for future generations. This is a permanent position based in Orsa. Your main workplace is here, and you are a present leader with clear physical presence in the operation. Some remote work is possible by agreement. Application In this recruitment, Orsa Besparingsskog is working with True Consulting & Recruitment. Apply for the position via www.truehr.se by August 30, 2026. For questions about the position, you are warmly welcome to contact recruitment consultant Helena Lundqvist, 070-744 00 18 or [email protected]. The process will begin once the application deadline has passed. About True Consulting & Recruitment True is the small company with a big heart and dedication.
