Correctional Officer at Österåker Prison

About the Swedish Correctional Service The Swedish Correctional Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, detention facilities, and inmate transportation. The Stockholm East operations area comprises two closed prisons: Österåker and Täby. Our team primarily consists of correctional officers, but also care personnel, teachers, administrators, production managers, and other important professional groups. Inmates at the prisons are engaged in education, treatment programs, workshop activities, and assembly and packaging tasks – all to create structure, meaning, and conditions for a better future. Österåker Prison is in an exciting expansion phase with new prison spaces and activity facilities coming online between 2025 and 2027. Here you have excellent opportunities to grow with the organization – both in terms of staff numbers and in new, exciting roles. The prison is located outside Åkersberga – perfect if you want to avoid rush hour traffic. A car is the most convenient way to get here. Täby Prison is a smaller facility with a family-like environment and good commuting options. Both prisons offer staff parking. We value a health-promoting work environment – at Österåker Prison there is a staff gym. There is also an appreciated staff restaurant where you can eat and socialize with your colleagues.
