Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantitative Characterization of Multivalent Binding
About the Position We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher interested in developing new methods to measure multivalent binding—the mechanism that allows antibodies and many modern drugs to bind to multiple target molecules simultaneously. Established binding assays capture this poorly, which limits the ability to predict how such molecules behave. The project combines DNA nanotechnology with amplification and sequencing-based readouts. You will use programmable DNA nanostructures to present target molecules at controlled nanometer-scale distances and develop assays that quantify how binders interact with them. The work is method development with applications in mind and takes place in close collaboration with the group's experimental and computationally-oriented colleagues in the Department of Gene Technology, KTH/SciLifeLab. Qualifications Required Completed PhD or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. This qualification requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made. Documented experience with quantitative molecular biology methods, such as qPCR, digital PCR, or DNA sequencing. Excellent knowledge of English, spoken and written, as this is the research group's daily working language. As a person, you are self-driven and experienced in advancing a research project independently. The work takes place in an interdisciplinary environment, which requires good collaboration skills and the ability to communicate results clearly. We welcome your awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues, with particular focus on gender equality. Merits At the application deadline, no more than three years since completing your PhD or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. Experience with DNA nanotechnology or other forms of programmable molecular self-assembly. Experience characterizing molecular binding interactions, for example using surface-based or biophysical methods. Ability to combine experimental work with quantitative data analysis or modeling. Experience supervising students or teaching at university level. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. Become Part of KTH KTH shapes the future through education, research, and innovation. The application must include: CV including relevant professional experience and knowledge. Copy of diploma and transcripts from your previous university studies. Translations to English or Swedish if the original documents are not issued in one of these languages. A brief account of why you want to conduct research, your academic interests, and how they relate to your previous studies and future goals. Maximum 2 pages. The application must be received by KTH no later than the application deadline at midnight, CET/CEST (Central European Time/Central European Summer Time). About the Position The employment is permanent, but for a maximum of two years. A postdoctoral position is a time-limited position with a focus on research, intended as a first career step after completion of doctoral studies. Other For information on the processing of personal data in connection with recruitment. An employment at KTH may be placed in a security class.
