Parish Educator for Hult-Edshult, Höreda, and Mellby

Join us! We are seeking someone who wants to work with children in parish ministry. We value someone who is confident in themselves and finds it exciting to meet all kinds of people from age 0 and up. This is a new position that has not existed before. It means you will take over established activities in the parishes, but the position also has great potential for developing new programs. In Hult and Höreda there is strong children's programming for lower and middle school, a children's choir, and excellent collaboration with schools. Many families with children live in the parishes, and there is interest in creating a group for stay-at-home parents with children. The parishes work ecumenically with the free churches in the area. Södra Vedbo pastorat covers a large geographic area, but your primary placement will be in Hult, Höreda, and Mellby. In the small local team, priests, musicians, children's leaders, and educators work closely together. You will also be part of the children, youth, and education unit where all educators and children's leaders in the pastorat collaborate. This is a full-time position and a two-year project position with potential extension to permanent employment. We hope you can begin your employment in fall 2026, but no later than January 1, 2027. Job Responsibilities Lead and plan children's activities in the Hult-Edshult, Höreda, and Mellby parishes. Responsively develop new children's programs in the parishes based on parishioners' wishes. Lead and plan camp activities for children. Develop work that allows our children and youth to be part of the parish throughout their adult lives. Participate in the school church's Bible Adventures for lower and middle school students. Assist with services several times per term. What are the communities like? Hult is located 12 km east of Eksjö. There is a large church here and the parish hall where the office is located. The lower and middle school is next to the parish hall, so we are close to the children. The community consists of residential streets and also has a local shop and the Albert Engström museum. Approximately 1,100 people live in the parish. Höreda is located 8 km south of Eksjö and has an older church but a newer parish hall. Here too, we are neighbors with the community's lower and middle school. The area consists of residential streets in town and considerable countryside. The parish covers a large geographic area. Approximately 1,200 people live in the parish. Mellby is a small rural parish but a vibrant one. It has a beautiful old church and a small parish hall. 366 people live in the parish. Mellby is located south of Eksjö, 17 km away. Qualifications We seek someone who is educated as a parish educator or has pedagogical training that the pastorat considers equivalent. A Class B driver's license and your own car are required for this position. You must be a member of the Church of Sweden and well-grounded in its faith and life. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. Upon employment, you will need to provide a background check excerpt intended for work with children and young people. Application Submit your application by September 18 with a personal letter, CV, and references through the Varbi recruitment system. We only accept applications through Varbi.
