The Sickness Insurance Department (SF) is tasked with investigating, deciding on, and paying out primarily sickness benefits. Through lawful application, good service, and effective cooperation with other stakeholders, the department works toward low and stable sick leave. We have approximately 3,800 employees spread across about 50 locations throughout Sweden. The department consists of five national operations areas named First Claim, In-Depth Investigation, Support for Return to Work, Legal Support, and Process. We are seeking a driven, strategic, and development-oriented person for the role of Operations Area Manager for SF First Claim. This is an opportunity for you who want to work at a high strategic level in operations with high complexity and a socially important mission. Tasks and Responsibilities As Operations Area Manager, you are responsible for managing operations and leading people based on the authority's long-term goals and the department's common direction. Public sector values guide your work. You lead four area managers who lead others and several support functions. In your role, you support the department director's decision-making and take responsibility for ensuring that decisions are implemented within your operations. You create understanding for context, direction, and the targets the department has set, and you develop the plans your operations need. You have operational responsibility, budget responsibility, and personnel responsibility. You have an active role in driving cooperation matters from a broader societal perspective together with other authorities and stakeholders. You represent the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in media contacts. In the operations area's management group, you steer strategic work together with your area managers and support functions and drive cross-functional collaborations. Through your leadership, you create the predictability, security, and sustainability necessary for employees to take their responsibility and meet the need for change. You adapt and exercise your leadership in a way that creates conditions for employees to use their judgment and competence. The operations area consists of approximately 800 employees, most of whom work as insurance investigators or insurance administrators. Employees make decisions for customers applying for sickness benefits for the first time, answer incoming customer calls, and handle administrative tasks. The work requires high efficiency and quality. The operations you lead are spread across several locations in Sweden, and travel is part of the position. The operations area has strong dependencies with other operations within the sick leave process, so good collaboration skills are required. As Operations Area Manager, you are part of the department's management group, and your direct supervisor is the department director. The position involves handling classified information, which requires high standards of proper handling. Therefore, it is important that you have strong security awareness when working for us.
