According to the Higher Education Ordinance (HF 4 chapter 12 c§), an assistant lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to lecturer if they have both eligibility for employment as a lecturer and, upon review, are deemed suitable for such employment according to the assessment criteria applicable to the position. Such promotion means a permanent employment as a lecturer. Application and review for promotion to lecturer shall take place within the employment period as an assistant lecturer. Job Description: As an assistant lecturer in civil procedure law at the Department of Legal Science, you will have an active role in building the research environment. The employee shall actively participate in national and international research activities. The employee is expected to have continuous presence at the workplace. The position includes 50% teaching, preferably on the department's law program and the upcoming law degree program, which is under development. Teaching on other courses, for example through loans to other departments, also occurs. The remaining 50% is expected to be devoted to research within your field with the aim of qualifying for promotion to lecturer and possible docent position. Eligibility Eligible for employment as an assistant lecturer is someone who has completed a doctoral degree in legal science/law or has equivalent scientific competence. Primarily, those who have completed a doctoral degree or reached equivalent competence no more than seven years before the time of application for employment as an assistant lecturer should be considered. However, someone who has completed a doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances. (HF 4 chapter 4a§). Assessment Criteria: The following assessment criteria should be particularly considered for an assistant lecturer according to Linnaeus University's employment regulations: scientific and pedagogical competence, international experience, experience and ability to collaborate, and experience in leadership. These assessment criteria will be evaluated in a promotion application to lecturer. When the university hires new teachers, applicants shall be selected who, through a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skill, are deemed to have the best conditions to carry out and develop current work tasks and contribute to successful development of the activities. As the faculty at the Department of Legal Science is being built up, great weight is placed on the applicant having demonstrated good collaborative ability, as this is important for the successful establishment of the research and teaching environment.
