About the operation The Water and Wastewater Pipe Network is a department within the Water and Wastewater Unit that currently consists of a unit manager, a water and wastewater engineer, a measurement engineer, and four pipe network technicians distributed across two work teams – one in Säffle and one in Åmål. We work in close cooperation with our colleagues in the water and wastewater process, street and park, and recreation departments, as well as contractors, where together we build, maintain, and develop the various facilities and infrastructure of our cities and towns. Today, the operation is responsible for approximately 200 kilometers of water and wastewater pipe networks in our cities and towns. To meet future needs, secure water supply, and adapt infrastructure to a changing climate, the replacement rate in our pipe networks will triple by 2032. That is why we are now seeking more colleagues for our growing team. Work tasks The work tasks as a pipe network technician are varied in size, location, and design. As a pipe network technician, you work together with group leaders and colleagues on both larger investment projects and operational and maintenance work within our water and wastewater pipe networks. The work tasks are varied and include, among other things: Excavation, pipe laying, and groundwork Operational and maintenance measures in the water and wastewater pipe networks For smaller assignments, such as operational measures, planning the practical execution of the task assigned to the current work team, which includes: Ordering materials Developing and performing simple technical drawings Ordering cable notifications and practical coordination Investigations in the water and wastewater networks, such as tracing, checking connection conditions, and leak detection Documentation in digital mapping systems The positions are based in Säffle and Åmål respectively, but the work is performed in both municipalities. In the position, you will also be part of the Water and Wastewater Pipe Network's on-call group, which means that approximately every 4–5 weeks you will be on call and, together with colleagues, be responsible for performing emergency measures in Säffle and Åmål municipalities' water and wastewater pipe networks even outside regular working hours. The Environmental Analysis and Research Unit (MAF) studies the effects of environmental contaminants in our environment. The unit is responsible for collection, sampling, and storage of materials for studies of environmental contaminants within Swedish environmental monitoring and conducts health monitoring of seals and porpoises. The unit is also responsible for the museum's Environmental Specimen Bank. The unit is financed primarily through contract work, with the largest clients being the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. We are now seeking a Senior Assistant to the Environmental Analysis and Research Unit. 1 position(s). DUTIES In your role as Senior Assistant, you may work with both collection management of the Environmental Specimen Bank's materials, both physically and digitally, as well as with sample preparation of biological material. The materials handled consist largely of fish, eggs, and mussels within the marine and limnic national programs for environmental contaminant monitoring, but may also include tissue sample preparation from other animal groups for various types of analyses. You may also work with receiving and preparing new materials for storage in the Environmental Specimen Bank, while inventorying, repackaging, and updating information on existing samples.
