The eye care department provides basic and, to some extent, highly specialized eye care for Gotland's approximately 60,000 residents. Operations are conducted in close collaboration with other surgical and medical specialties. Continuous efforts are made to further develop the department and thereby improve care for Gotland's population. We have approximately 13,000-14,000 visits per year where we provide outpatient services in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and eyelid surgery, as well as a medical retina clinic with injection services. The department has primary on-call responsibility during daytime hours and standby on-call duty part of weekends. Patients requiring highly specialized care are primarily referred to the eye clinics at St Erik's Eye Hospital or the Academic Hospital in Uppsala. We have regularly returning consultant physicians with specialized knowledge in pediatric ophthalmology, corneal diseases, cataract surgery, and plastic surgery, including surgery for tumors, eyelids, tear ducts, and strabismus. We have approximately 3-4 specialists per week and 1-2 resident physicians. Our staff includes roles such as ophthalmic nurse, nurse, nursing assistant, optician, and orthoptist. The clinic is well-equipped with, among other things, multispot laser, YAG laser, Humphrey perimetry, and OCT. As a nurse, you will gain both broad and deep expertise within your area of competence, as Visby Hospital, the island's only acute hospital, handles all eye patients on the island. The facility consists of 7 apartments on one floor with common areas in the center. The staff team consists of 1 support educator and 10 support assistants, of which 2 work nights. Your placement is at Smörkärnegatan floor 2, but when needed you also work at the nearby facility on floor 1, which serves the same target group. Your Mission For us, the relationship with the resident is at the core of the task. As a support assistant, you play an important role in creating security, participation, and quality of life for the people living with us. Your task is to provide professional and individualized support that strengthens the resident's independence, participation, and ability to live a good life based on their own circumstances, wishes, and goals. You work based on implementation plans and create together with the resident a daily life characterized by influence, meaning, and structure. You support with daily activities, personal care, communication, social relationships, and leisure – always with respect for the individual's integrity and self-determination. You document in Treserva and actively contribute to ensuring that services are planned, implemented, and followed up with good quality. The facility offers support 24/7. Working hours are scheduled for daytime and evening, with duty every other weekend based on operational needs. We use TimeCare Planning for operationally adapted and flexible schedules. Qualifications We're looking for you with a degree from the Care and Health Program, support assistant training, nursing assistant education, or the Children and Recreation Program with a focus on social or educational work. The educational requirement is also met if you have post-secondary specialization in the disability field comprising at least 200 vocational credits, 120 higher education credits, or a combination equivalent to at least four full-time study terms. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should include relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer considers equivalent. Communication is an important part of the work, which requires that you have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1. If you don't meet this requirement, you may be offered to take a language test. You have experience supporting people with both mental functional variations (such as psychotic disorders and schizophrenia) and physical functional variations. It is meritorious if you have knowledge of LAB (low-arousal approach), ESL (an independent life), and MI (motivational interviewing).
