The Medical Acute Care Department (MAVA) is part of Internal Medicine in Gävle and has 20 patient beds. We care for acutely ill patients with medical conditions. The main diagnoses on the department are liver cirrhosis, liver failure, heart problems/arrhythmias, intoxication and addiction, diabetes, electrolyte disturbances, as well as patients with other medical conditions such as infections, COPD or general decline. We work toward rapid patient flow and short hospital stays. 2 position(s). JOB DUTIES At MAVA, work is divided within each care team between a registered nurse and a nursing assistant, and together you are responsible for five patients. Night staffing is divided between two registered nurses and two nursing assistants. In addition to the care teams, we have a receptionist and a care coordinator. The eye care department provides basic and, to some extent, highly specialized eye care for Gotland's approximately 60,000 residents. Operations are conducted in close collaboration with other surgical and medical specialties. Continuous efforts are made to further develop the department and thereby improve care for Gotland's population. We have approximately 13,000-14,000 visits per year where we provide outpatient services in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and eyelid surgery, as well as a medical retina clinic with injection services. The department has primary on-call responsibility during daytime hours and standby on-call duty part of weekends. Patients requiring highly specialized care are primarily referred to the eye clinics at St Erik's Eye Hospital or the Academic Hospital in Uppsala.
