The Intermediate Care Unit (IMA) is a relatively new care unit, which means we are continuously developing the department together. It is a 24/7 operation, and patients come to us from throughout the hospital. Patients cared for at IMA require a higher level of care than a regular ward, but not as advanced as intensive care. The average length of stay is approximately 1-2 days. At IMA, we have five care beds divided between two care teams. The workplace is characterized by a cheerful, professional, and inclusive environment where we have close collaboration. JOB DUTIES Common diagnoses we treat include respiratory failure, sepsis, metabolic disorders, and intoxications. Patients come to us from medical wards, acute care operations, and as "step down" from our intensive care unit. We work closely with patients in teams, with nurses and nursing assistants collaborating with physically present physicians and physiotherapists. As a nurse, you will work with this team to be responsible for the care of 2-3 patients. Currently we care for patients with medical conditions, but the goal is also to be able to receive patients with surgical and orthopedic conditions as the unit grows and with appropriate training. Our Operations The Eye Clinic is one of the hospital's largest outpatient departments with approximately 45,000 visitors per year. The Eye Clinic is a pleasant workplace with a large patient flow. As a research nurse/optician, you will work 50% in research and the remaining time you will work at the Eye Clinic as a nurse or optician. Your Assignment As a research nurse/optician at the Eye Clinic, you will work according to the competency model for research nurses at Akademiska Hospital and will participate in both academic research studies and clinical trials.
