She uses a wheelchair but can also walk and move about, which she enjoys doing, but needs support to do so. As an applicant, you should therefore be in good physical condition so she can do what she wants without being limited by who is working with her. As an assistant, it is important that you understand your role and that you support and sometimes compensate for certain functional limitations, without taking over. It is therefore important that you constantly promote development and self-determination in the person you work with. She has language comprehension but does not speak herself; instead she uses alternative communication.
