The City Services Administration is responsible for delivering, coordinating, and developing services to residents and administrations in the City of Mölndal. The administration has approximately 550 employees and is organized into four areas: meals and facility management, water and recycling, city maintenance, and support and customer services. Within support and customer services, there are central support functions for the entire city, both internally and externally, such as resident services, administration, and operations development. This also includes the Operations Support Unit, which is responsible for finance and budget, management, procurement and tendering, legal affairs, committee administration, archives, security, and monitoring. Water and recycling is a tax-financed operation responsible for vital public functions. Long-term work is conducted here with a focus on sustainability, quality, and efficient resource use. About the Role As an economist, you have a central role in finance and operations management and work closely with both operational and strategic levels. You are organizationally placed within support and customer services, but your assignment is primarily directed towards the water and recycling operations area, where you work closely with managers and employees in daily operations. You are part of an engaged finance team, currently consisting of four economists each responsible for their respective operations area within the City Services Administration. In the role, you are responsible for, among other things: - Finance and operations monitoring with a focus on water and waste fees - Separate accounting in accordance with applicable regulations and legislation - Quality assurance of revenue and financial reporting - Fixed asset register and investment accounting - Support in developing and monitoring long-term investment plans You ensure that financial accounting meets the requirements of the Water Services Act and contribute to good financial control and transparency. Furthermore, you work with budgets, forecasts, and financial statements, and produce analyses and decision-making materials for the operations. The work takes place in close dialogue with the operations and is characterized by quality, collaboration, and development. You also participate in common finance processes and development initiatives within the administration and city, and conduct in-depth analyses and financial investigations as needed. In your daily work, you use the city's finance system Unit4 ERP, the procurement and invoice management system Proceedo, and the monitoring tool Hypergene. In this role, you report to the Head of Operations Support. Qualifications We are seeking someone with a university degree in economics or other education deemed equivalent. You have experience with qualified accounting and controller work and are confident in the entire finance process. It is meritorious if you have experience with tax-financed municipal operations or water utility companies. Experience in municipal finance is also an advantage.
